I have the Tamiya version in my stash still. seeing this build and the fact that all my older race car kits decals are probably iffy now has motivated me to start focusing on and building the race cars. several 1/20 scale F1's are among them too. Another well done video!

You really turned this kit around and made it into a good model for the shelf, despite it's many many shortomings. I'd probably not buy and build it, but if Idid, I'd try to kitbash it with something to give it a little more detail.

All things considered.. that's n outstanding job on that kit. There's so much they could have done better with this kit. I wish they'd left the front grille open & given you some mesh to put inside. Open vents too.. The wing on mine is long gone, I'll find it somewhere someday. I took another look at my chassis to see why it wasn't fitting the body correctly, seems like the chassis on mine had a moulding error.

Thanks mate. Moulding errors and Fujimi go hand in hand! I guess as this car was supposed to be motorised, they made the shell as robust as possible hence the lack of openings

How can i cut the sticker for example for the doors lines??. Trying to place the marlboro decals on my 206 wrc, i've struggled a lot with the edge of the bonnet as is in a weird S shape.. it was a nightmare. I believe the easiest way should be to cut the excess of decal once dry??

So what I normally do is let the decal settle for a bit but not dry completely, then very carefully cut along the door line with a very new and sharp craft blade. Afterwards you can push it down a bit using a damp cotton bud. I hope that helps.

very nice work on the model, pity about the work you did on the roll cage but it turned out really nice. I don't think I've built that version but built all the Tamiya versions when they came out, but I've built some of the 190E Evo 2 that Fujimi did, they're basic as well but it seems they were better designed than the one you've built as i never had much difficulty although still quite basic. It seems soem manufacturers like to do race cars with no livery or just a roll out version, I can see why as it means you can get aftermarket decals but I think it could put people off. Model on. Oh when the DTM got so popular that it expanded to other countries and became the ITC, I did go to see them at Brands and Donington :) it quickly went bust and reverted to DTM.

Thanks, Sarah Jane! I wish Tamiya would reissue their DTM cars as I know they would be so popular. Yeah, I read that the European rounds in 1996 weren't too bad but Opel and Alfa Romeo weren't happy racing in countries where they didn't even sell cars like Japan.

Thought you made a great job of a pretty shoddy kit, all the extras look excellent, typical fujimi kit, don't think I've built one were the chassis met up properly with the body, they are always too big or too small

Cheers Mike. The half decent Fujimi kits are out there but often not where you expect. Dave said the Fujimi Prius was one of the best fitting kits he has made!

The kit really has a bad quality. I also dont know why they didnt include the decals considering that it is a racing car. Youve done a great job and it looks good. Im building the Italeri Porsche 965c at the moment. It is pretty much the worst kit I have built so far.

Many thanks Patrick. There used to be versions of this sold with the decals but I don't know why they aren't available anymore. I'm reluctant to buy more Italeri kits as too many are old reboxes I find.

Thanks for the information. Until now I have only built one Italeri kit and I am currently working on my second one. I built the Audi quattro rally and I find it is a decent kit.
