Cool build Ron, as a Trucker I see these canopies daily fueling my Semi, it would be a fun project lighting the canopy with LEDs for night effect, Summit makes very nice models and the owner has an awesome UP layout!!!

Hey, Boomer. Thank you. I'm a bit disappointed in the paint job on the canopy, as I noted, but I'm really happy with the rest of it and it will look good in the scene as I complete more of it.

I’m going to get this kit but, my only concern now is whether I will be able to control my hands. They tend to shake a bit when I’m trying to fit tiny model pieces. Anyway, I’m going to try. Thanks for showing and describing your build! 🇨🇦

Need to get u a printer,lol. Needs an interior. Simple printed interior scene would work fine. Nice work though.
@RonsTrainsNThings2 ай бұрын
I will probably add SOME interior detail and lights, but on the layout you will primarily see the back of the convenience store, so it's not the highest priority.

Great work Ron. I'm in the process of building an N Scale layout. I have several Woodland Scenics lighted buildings. I've tried to level out their locations but I have some light leaking out from the foundations. I'm looking for ideas to block it out.

Hey Ron, where did you get the Whataburger? I live in central Texas and have an "N" scale layout that's begging for a Whataburger.

Nice, Ron. I did custom painting of Maine Central locos & rolling stock that were sold in the local hobbyshop in the mid 80's. "Ron's Trains" is what I called my little enterprise. There were no factory HO stuff available in those days. Sold like hot cakes. Every week when I delivered finished models to the store, the owner would send me home with more to do for that week. Things rarely stayed in the shop more than a week. I have a question for you. Where are you gettig the Shell decals? I would like to find Shell decals in HO, not just for buildings and signs, but for vehicles also. The only gas station in my home town during the 60's was a Shell station. There had been 2 others in the 50's which didn't survive into the 60's. To complete the station, I need to find another thing that will be a real oddity. On the roof of the station was a fiberglass(I suppose) figure of a boy in a night shirt with a tire on his shoulder and I thinl a candle in his other hand. I can't remember now which tire manufacturer used that for their advertising. Would have to have been one of the old tire manuf. like Firestone, B F Goodrich, Goodyear. I just can't remember. Maybe I'll google it but regardless of who, I need to find that figure in HO. I sure can't carve one.LOL
@ronatwell53792 ай бұрын
I've already answered my question about the boy. It was Fisk tires that had it in their advertising. The boy is yawning and the slogan was "is it time to retire?" I'll never find anything close to that.
@RonsTrainsNThings2 ай бұрын
The decals came with the kit, but I'm sure you can find Shell images online and print some of your own.

Great video on the summit model. One thing I don't understand is why everybody in model railroading uses the back ground hillbilly finger picking music.Bring the music up a bit to rock!
