Customizing Invoices in QuickBooks Online: A Guide to New Layout Options

Thanks for your content and sorry in advance for the rant! Like many recent QB feature launches, this update is ill-conceived. The rollout itself took several months and believe it or not, my accountant subscription still hasn't forced me to switch to the new layout. I'm so confused about what the purpose of the "custom form styles" setting is used for now and where updates to sales templates should actually be made. Also this update seems to only affect invoices, but not sales receipts?? I also recently discovered that if you update to the new invoice layout, you'll lose the ability to send invoices for signature in the QB app. Btw, that feature is ONLY available in the app and customer/accountant support has virtually no guidance to offer when it comes to the app. Very disappointed in this sloppy release.

Totally agree! This is incredibly frustrating and a dumb move on Intuit's part. I'm glad people are talking about it, I hope Intuit listens! I'm encouraging everyone to click on "Feedback" and let Intuit know how they feel anytime they find something you don't like about it.

QB is so dumb. Aesthetics are important to me, it's unbelievable they just siphoned out almost all customization features that matter.

Hi is there a way to set ETF and Cheque payments to my wholesalers, instead of having credit cards too? I would still like to have credit card payment option to my retail clients.

You can turn/off payment methods per invoice. But you have to do it on individual invoices, it's not something you can set for a customer. Here's a video on customizing payments in the new layout: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4vbgZajiJ5gnNk

You have to go to Design and Click Modern Layout in order to properly view the invoice. Just in case if it's not Clear. hope this helps!

Modern is only template that allows you to use the previews. If you're using a custom template you have to send a copy to yourself in order to see what it will looks like. I have a video coming out next week that covers this.
