I really appreciate your painting guides. Painting heads always turns me off, but you make it easy to follow and less intimidating

Good! They eyes for me are always the hardest, I’m getting decent with my kind of one trick skin tone method but the eyes are always annoying to get even. Especially when the eyes aren’t sculpted perfectly symmetrical cause it’s hard to balance out the pupil focus point.

That looks 1000x better! Well done Sir

What you probably could have done with his beard is to very lightly drybrush some blonde, red/orange for that ginger color and some greys. His beard isn't fully one color and it often looks different depending on the lighting and filters used.

Awesome. I just got one that I want to try to turn into a custom Kyle Katarn.

The explanation in the beginning is so true. I’ve a Katana Body ready to go and I’m just waiting on a friend to finish printing the head.

Well done! I’ve just started customizing and doing my first head sculpt now. I really enjoyed seeing the mistakes and how you tackled them the most.seeing your process makes it so much easier to duplicate or at least attempt to! Can’t wait to see more stuff!

Yeah I know how it feels to wait for fodder, I made a SHF Faye Valentine and used a 3D printed head that I got months before I managed to get the body

Awesome job! What brush do you use for the eyes and eyebrows? What tool do you use to scrap?

You don't prime the model in any way before starting? I always thought the enamel paints / varnish factories use don't take acrylics well. I've heard someone recommend spraying matt acrylic varnish as a primer, to keep the original colors as a base and create a better texture for new paint to hang onto. Do you feel that's unnecessary?
@VADtoys28 күн бұрын
Usually I think that's unnecessary as varnish leaves a slightly gritty texture, if I use any varnish it's usually after I've painted something. Some people say that you should wash whatever you're painting in warm soapy water before you paint but I honetly have never bothered and it seems to work out fine.

Hasbro always makes great sculpts but they often get the hair / skin color wrong

What kind of brushes do you use if you don’t mind me asking. I’m relatively new and I’m not sure what size brushes to use.
@VADtoys6 ай бұрын
I use a random assortment of games workshops and army painter brushes, mainly cause those are what I’m used to. You honestly can’t go wrong with buying all sizes, if you’re serious about it you’re going to need most of them eventually!
