I can relate to Mike a bit. My father had a K2500 and while it wasn't a Suburban, the transmission did the same exact thing except in the middle of the winter time so we had to walk about a quarter mile before a friend of his drove us home, but not before pushing it into a nearby church parking lot which made the church people angry as it was taking up a spot for several days. And the barn door leak as well. It may not have had barn doors but the window seals were broken and when it rained water got inside the cabin.

I had a 2000 danger Ranger with the flex 3.0 I jumped that truck so much it wasn’t even funny the only thing from keeping me from slamming into the ground was the weighted pintle hitch that I put on for only that reason and then it got totaled by a red light runner

2003 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L extended cab, I leveled it on 33x 12.5 then I put fuel 18x12-12 on it, the truck is painted cherry red and I replaced all the chrome with black... still going strong to this day and i love it

Maybe a 2" leveling kit with a 3" lift or a 4" plain lift would be more affordable. Don't go with huge wheels (settle for middle size) if you want to save money or are on a tight budget. They cost a ton and can get bent plus bigger wheels mean bigger tires which is more cost to it. If you are going for show truck you'll have to spend more money but if it is a budget off-road build some 16" steelies with 265-295 would be pretty cheap.

Love this series. My first vehicle was a 03F150 four-door super cab with a 6 inch rough Country left on 35 M/T’s with an upgraded Flowmaster with I think 12 series exhaust and a K&N Cold air intake and A light bar in the front but mounted on the front bumper it was a small one just to be used as like highbeams. That baby road great I’d loved that truck until I wrecked it and bent the frame in the rack so they couldn’t fix it Rip to the Ford

Custom offsets should be based more around show trucks. They put trucks in one category but all these trucks the say are cool and nice and a “build” are not used as a truck. Lift, lights, and wheels aren’t close to build and aren’t very useful
