Looking at the schematics @0:25 how does this relate to using a BOSS NS-2? I would assume that Gin and Gout is INPUT and OUTPUT but is Dout SEND and Din RETURN on the BOSS NS-2? Thank you for your reply 🙂

Where would you put the pedals from your effects loop like chorus, delay, phaser, or reverb? Between Send and D. In, or between D. Out and Return?

This is an explanation of the diagram in the video which answers your question 1. Guitar into gate input (G.in) 2. Gate out (G.out) to amplification effects (distortion, overdrive, fuzz -> amp input) 3. Now the pre-amp of the amp head has amplified the gated guitar DI signal + pre-fx, so we wish to also gate any pre-amp hum as well, so Amp send (fx send) into gate return (D. in.) 4. Now both the guitar DI + pre-fx pedal noise has been gated as well as the pre-amp hum of the amp head. Since we are in the fx-loop (post pre-amp), there is no amplification in this stage. Thus, there is no distortion or compression of a decaying signal in the time based effects of delay, reverb, chorus etc.. So we want to put these time based effects in this effects loop. In the case of having no pedal commander like a boss-es8, which could allow us to bypass multiple pedals including the gate without manually turning them off (which is impractical and time costly), lets assume the noise gate pedal is always on. In this case, if we put the pedals before the gate (fx send -> D.in), then there will be some gating of the time based effects, as the signal chain is TIME EFFECTS -> GATE. However, if we put the time based effects after the gate (D.out -> Fx return), then the signal is already gated early based on the dry signal because the gate has not received any additional signal coming from the decay (trail) of time based effects, so there will be less time based effects present in your output. You should look to getting a boss-es8 and doing the 4 cable method setup for unlimited flexibility, like this; kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHzNfaSdpL9paMU But otherwise to answer your question based on this model, we want chorus, delay, phaser, or reverb between Fx send and D. So on Time FX (Rev/Delay/Chor...) I’m not quite sure. As follows Guitar>ISP IN>ISP OUT>Fuzz/Dist/OD>Amp In.. ISP SEND>Amp POWER RET... ISP RETURN>Amp PRE SEND... where do the Time FX go?
