The shift + numpad 7 was new to me. Seems to be very useful in many cases when trying to align things.

1. bro you dont have to disable modifiers in viewport instead of that just use disable in edit mode , its on the left side of viewport button that you clicked. 2. you dont have to align view to face normal , to fix that rotation issue addon gives you slider in bottom left corner right after you use loop tools. 3. instead of doing manually one by one sphere, use loop tools addon (space function) for equal square and then do inset on 2 square at a time and then repeat by Shift+R while selecting 2 square . (sorry for BAD English) btw good topology

I agree on all points, and I would suggest going for octagons instead of hexagons -> select a vertex -> ctrl+shift+B. set your size, select the amount of vertices and use the loop tools afterwards. and don't forget to use control loops at the edge. so you don't get artifacts like he would get in the video. sure you can trick around with the normal settings (angle/harden) but that would be bad modelling

Edit: Well, he explains exactly what I was asking in the comment, later on the video. Just to test this, I've just created a loop cut on the default cube, then selected 2 adjacent faces and used 'I' command, then made a rough hexagon like you just did in the video. When I applied the circle loop tool, it has made a perfect hexagon, but has slightly rotated it. I wonder why it did that. BTW, I made the rough hexagon by picking vertices as pairs and using scale on axis, so, even though it wasn't a perfect hexagon, it was perfectly symmetrical. It's curious that it rotated the hexagon and it's edges are no longer parallel to the cube.

yeah, this works great for holes. Thank you for showing how this is done, but what if you want to just cut out a part of something, that doesn't go all the way through the other mesh? Do you HAVE to use Boolean for it?

Could you try to provide a visual example of what you mean? If i know a good answer I could try to make another video.

I suppose only way to prevent twisting is to slide each vertex into position?

Probably, but even that would not be flawless. I am trying to figure out a way to make it near-perfect with shrinkwrap.
