This is so cool! Quick tip, you can use GIMP to split your artwork using guides in a more automated way

i just want to say. thankyou for never giving up on yourself and always pushing forward to invent and create ways for yourself to regain your lost life. you ARE inspirational to those similar to yourself finding themselves losing their own autonomy and ability to live and do simple things on their own.

Not gonna lie, sending the board and digital file to a business that has a bigger laser to do the cutting or engraving might be the most logic option for most of us, if we find our selves in that escenario. But still, good to see the posible alternatives. I ran into a similar issue in art college. But it was serigraphie, not laser.

Absolutely, I mean that's why I have a cnc plasma that has a bed 23' x 9' just so I can do the bigger pieces. But I thought it would be useful for the garage guys that were doing the onesy, twosy thing.

It'd be awesome if Creality put together some software (and hardware) to make this easier; it could tile the image and use an onboard camera to figure out what it is overlapping with and pick up from there... Then you could just plunk it down with a couple cm of overlap with some other tiles, wait for it to finish, then move it again. No need for precision, because the camera works it all out. It's cool that you've put together a workaround, though; maybe Creality should consult with you on how this process could work, perhaps with some locator stickers or something to make it more reliable? Something like the router that automatically cuts the right pattern using computer vision. Unrelated to the video, but it is awesome to see your prosthetic fingers in action while you do work on other projects like this.

I think an upgrade to the flat bar to make the transition faster would be to put it on hinges. Those hinges that can slide up and down the flat stock independently and clamp to the flat stock using set screws maybe (kind of like the set screw on calipers). Plus it would steady the flat bar against the material being engraved.

At first, I thought you were going to grab a 30 foot loop of timing belt and extend the body of the laser ... but indexing works too. :)

I’ll be honest, you lost me in your speech… focused too much on the cool flicking noises of that badass prosthetic.
