A more elastic material like silicon for stationary parts and a woven fabric for movable parts will take the hand to the next level

It would be fantastic if you could get a big sponsor or partner that couñd ena le you to work this into a family of products using more advance technologies like the use of casted titatnium, metal 3d printing and similar as it couñd enable much smaller versions for kids and women which normally have much smaller hands. Great job! 😊

Hello, Mr. Davis. I know this is presumptuous, but could I ask for a blueprint of a robot hand for study? Or the parts needed to make it, which could help me and my friends with missing fingers regain their lives. I would appreciate it, but you don't have to reply if it bothers me. A friend from the other side of the world

The forearm portion of the device needs to be comfortable yet strong. I might suggest a leather strap, with an integration of a Kevlar over the top for the connection of the metal and to hold it. I think you would find it more comfortable and durable.

I have extreme deformities in my hands and feet from rheumatoid arthritis. I’ve lost all but my thumb and only partial use of index finger on right hand. Sometimes I think I would be better off amputating it and would probably benefit from a prosthetic hand. However no medical.

Cool idea. We did a similar thing on the LUKE arm with the force sensors, they are in the center of the fingers, well protected and not part of the consumable silicone cover. We also made the thumb a very stiff spring with a 2 axis hall effect sensor inside, so we could always sense force (spring deflection) and the direction of the applied force. That would then be used with a vibrating pager motor to vary the motor speed (vibration) with increasing force being applied to the thumb.

Touch is such a tough thing to integrate. I'm still torn as to the real value of making it part of my setup. Since my designs are body powered, I get a lot of feedback from the sockets that you don't get from a myo hand. The harder I grip something, the more pressure I feel from the loading points of the sockets. Where with my myo device, it was truly a blind touch. I wasn't a huge fan of it, even with a pile of practice. I was never able to gain real confidence with the grip.
@keithviolette5870
@keithviolette5870 9 күн бұрын
@@missingpartsclub Fully agree. Sense of touch electronics adds lots of complexity, especially for a body powered device. It may be best suited for powered devices, unless there is an easy/cost effective way to do it.

There are definitely benefits to having certain parts made of polymer. It doesn't corrode as easily and less expensive to replace.

In my real-world testing, I haven't seen loaded cycle counts get results high enough to be considered durable enough for production from polymer. It's just the wrong material for my application.

I agree with the hostels, I used to love staying in them before I settled down. However, the train system in the UK is currently completely absurd! You can fly from Edinburgh to London Heathrow cheaper than the train ticket from the airport into the city!

If you're going to have a cool looking cyborg hand, you need to be able to flip a powerful bird, spring for that middle-finger option. You don't need it often, but when you do, it'll be ready to put anyone in their place with authority. Very impressive work, great job!
