Make yourself a replica of an old Forest Service lookout when you get to the top.

Amen to that! It wouldn't have to be 70ft tall, or anything crazy, just something 20ft or so up in the air. That would be the most "in demand" site of your campground :)

The view on top was admazing. I would enjoy sitting there watching the sun come up and going down. Wait till the family gets to see that view please record it for the rest of us to enjoy too.

I was thinking more about spending a clear dark night on the top with a telescope, watching the stars move across the sky. The views of the horizons look unobstructed, and suspect the light pollution is fairly low.

I’m watching you “punish” yourself further doing all that- dry walling. You are a man who stands in the path of a “Self_Bully”. An unusual quality in a lot of people today. Heath you know we all love you. …. When you entered tha excavator and the temp was F9°. Then later you were ‘spying’ out the screen - I suspect at trees but it made me wonder if you are warmer in the cabin of the Excavator. I do love you, Cedar (& family) Heath you are a little younger than my son would be - if he were alive. He too would work till the ‘WORK’ was DONE to. When you say this track will DROP you into the back of your original property. I do pray it’s not a true “DROP” as always God Bless and all my Love, Ellen from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤❤️💙💜💙

Now that you trail is mostly in, you should consider some loops or alternative sections of trail where it is safe to do so. It may not be possible in all sections. The reason is if you have windstorms that break off trees that block the trail or if you have washouts, you can still access all of your property via a loop. You won't have to look for washouts; they will find you. You will need to put in some water bars, ditches or drainage tile as a permanent fix for water problems. Good start so far.

I think a lookout tower or a tall tree house somewhere around that high point that overlooks the valley, might be something to consider. Great way to take advantage of that view. And - just another thought...when you're up that far away from the house, a couple of Motorola two way radios might be a good idea. They're relatively cheap for that extra measure of safety and piece of mind.

Hi Cedar, Heath, and everyone at Red Poppy Ranch, It's been a while since I left a message for you, but as Heath is talking about getting the trail cut in this week before the melt starts and hold up getting the rest cut in, a thought occured to me that may be important for Heath. The thought is this: If the trail is cut in before the thaw starts, wouldn't the thaw potentially wash away some, maybe a lot of the trail? None of what has been dug up is resting on top of the ground, soil touching soil. The soil is mixed in with the mounds of snow. So, as the snow melts the soil is going to flow down the hill, not into the ground, and not securing the base of what was already dug up? Just a thought for you to think about Heath, so you can keep an eye on it as the thaw starts, so that you could prevent any washaway or land slide that could potentially happen from the thaw. Maybe taking all the trees and brush you have removed and packing it in below the trail into the snow that is piled on the downside of the hill, might make it more solid and less likely to thaw as fast, potentially preventing what I mentioned above. I'd really hate to see all the work you've put in to cutting the trail in, to be washed away and then having to cut even more out of the hillside in order to be able to have the trail. Because once the thaw starts, if it does start to wash out or slide, they're won't be a thing you can do about it but watch it happen because you won't be able to use any machinery on the hill until its dried and caked. You might hope for a slow thaw to decrease the chances of any of this happening, even though I know that's not what you want, it might be better to be so. Maybe you thought of all of this already, and have worked to prevent it from happening, but just incase. And Heath, please be careful up their when it's thawing. Keep Safe All at Red Poppy Ranch, Matt - Toronto, Canada

The trail is coming along nicely. The drywall is hung and being finished as well. We didn’t see the truck make a cameo appearance but I’m fine with that. You mentioned the rock retaining wall which I’m really looking forward to see how it will be structured. All in all I throughly enjoy vicariously living another life through your videos. Keep up the great videos and take care of your health and your family. I will see you again next week.😀

Heath use the rolling ford frame from the 65. I think.you left.the emergency breaking system on the rear axle. This will help control the trailer from getting away from you. With your skills it shouldn't take too long to get together.

Just a thought on a trailer to haul those rocks. If it was dual purpose and you could use it to haul supplies up the mountain and branches/trees back down to burn or process into firewood, it would make cleaning up the sides of that trail much easier.

Hey just food for thought because I have moved rocks off a mountain before, I used a rock sled with removable steak sides that way when you stop on the hill generally stops without you tugging it. It worked for me just adding my $0.02
