Sorry buddy but there is a correction. Lowering the cut off would increase the sensitivity but would also decrease the false negative. Similarly increasing the cut off would increase the specificity and also increase the false negative.

parikshit duriseti actually lowering the cut off point increases the sensitivity, because we have lowered the false negatives. NPV will also increase. Sensitivity and NPV go in the same direction Increasing the cut off point will increase specificity because we have lowered the false positives. PPV increases too

this might sound a very silly question but how do we know that moving to the left is lowering the cut off and not increasing it? can we imagine the x axis as a number ray where numbers are increasing towards right and lowering towards left?

yes Z. Viqas, you can imagine it that way, as in a X and Y axis, where the left is zero on the X axis :)
