Cut to the Chase - Todd Stalter
In popular jargon, the phrase "cut to the chase" means to get to the really interesting or important point and leave out all that is unnecessary. It originated from early cinematic lore when silent films were full of romantic storylines that inevitably led to much more exciting and memorable chase sequences. In this work, the melodic fragments are tossed around the band to give the impression that everyone is either being chased or chasing something. To pay homage to the phrase's past, the frantic atmosphere stops for an obligatory inclusion of a slow, romantic chord progression with a soaring melody, after which the chase resumes, building to a rousing conclusion.

Some of the people in my band made it it to state competitions, including me, and we played this song with a whole bunch of other great band players, plus, I played trombone and let me tell you, this is the best song to play!!! Highly recommended for other bands!!

My band played this years ago at evaluation in 8th grade it's my senior year now the lower band in our school was playing critical mass for their evaluation this year and i felt like I'd played something by stalter and i searched him and found this again i couldn't remember the name after all those years but it was familiar in 8th grade one of our percussionists missed the whistle at the very end but we played fine and got all ones
