It kinda makes sense the South-African girl would sound like having a German accent, since Afrikaans has a lot in common with Dutch, and Dutch is fairly closely related to German.

But from the perspective of an English-speaking American, it might, and it does sound quite a bit more like a German accent than, say, Italian or Russian accent (or Finnish accent, which I can spot miles away, being Finnish myself).

I think that there a Gypsies for each country/ethnical group because as a french-spanish, what comes to my mind when I hear gypsy is a group originally from Spain that also now live in France near the frontier of Spain (there are still speaking spanish even though there were born in France). If you go to UK, they have also a community which is called gypsies like Tyson Fury. I think Gypsies are more a way of living than a real ethnicity. Idk if you're going to understand my point 😅

Macedonian and Romanian are slavic languages and they are supposed to sound similar to Russian. URSS or not, both were under the Moscow supervison, with Russian natives leading the Communist Party. And its not like comparing anglo saxonic languages to asian ones. All slavic languages, even more if writen with cyrillic characters, have resembling words.

I never guessed he's filipino bc of his voice and vocabulary but If you listen to the Filipino grandpa clearly, his accent really sounds filipino. The way he talk, the pause on every word, and the way he pronounce "of" he said "op" (i babysit a lot op my grandkids). It was hard.
