@@meganod279 There are lots of reasons people break up without any wrongdoing. In my situation, my ex wasn't in a good mental state for a relationship and had commitment issues. I also know people who break up when things get serious and they realize there are sacrifices for their families that they are not willing to make, or that they have different values, even though they still love each other very much. My breakup was amicable and for that reason, it hurt a lot.

Sometimes love is all you have in common, and yall are incompatible for reasons outside of your control (e.g. principles/future plans don't align, maturity levels, etc.). Yeah , I had to leave him I broke it off even though he meant everything to me . He was making me sad because of someone else . I haven't talked to him in 2 weeks , we would talk everyday. He got me through a lot but I think my mindset is better now . Yes I will always miss him , and I'm glad I was able to put myself over him. To be honest, I've never been a religious person but recently I tried to pray without even believing that there are some gods somewhere, surprisingly I felt some kind of relief. Ironically I started to pray without any valid reason and just 2 days after, I found out by myself that she cheated. Looks like something or someone opened my eyes. My first real relationship ended a few months ago, after being 7 years together. I honestly thought we were going to grow old together, and it felt like someone died when he left me. I dropped out of my education simply because I hardly got out of bed for a month, and maybe ate every 2 or 3 days, because I couldn’t be bothered to eat. I once went over a week without eating anything at all. People started to get worried and started to come by and knock on the door. I never answered. I didn’t read emails or answer texts or phone calls. Eventually I had to get out of bed, because I had to take on debt to pay my bills. It helped going to work again, but it still feels like I lost a part of myself.

My worst breakup was with a guy who had 2 kids. I loved those kids like they were my own, helped raise them for years. We'd discussed what would happen if we ever broke up, and there was a mutual understanding and agreement that I could still be a part of their lives. When we did break up, he changed his mind. Refused to let me speak to them, but would tell me how much they talked about me and that they were asking where I was and he really manipulated me emotionally. It was devastating and heartbreaking and required a LOT of therapy. I haven't been in a relationship since, and this was in 2019. I've dated, but I'm just so guarded and hesitant. yes especially when he wants to marry for years, you finally give in and 7 months later (2 months after the honeymoon) he starts kissing another girl again and again and again, though you cry and beg not to do, he ignores your feelings, and 2 weeks after your first anniversary he breaks up, tells everyone that you both grew apart (I see that differently) and you're not allowed to tell anybody about what happend, but he runs through his town with the other girl just the week after the breakup. I'll never trust any guy again (and women either, that b*tch didn't care as well that he was married).

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner is. Also, you would more likely be much closer to a person who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.

Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there is isn't that many abusive platonic relationships. Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships are very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot. And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends. Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can effect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be more happy being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone. Also, you're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse. So those are other reasons why romantic love isn't real or special, while platonic love is.

My worst breakup was when my first love and I were having to do a temporary long distance thing because of some financial and work issues. I was sending money back to him while setting up our new home in another state and getting things in order. It turned out he was using the money I was sending to help him to finance a relationship with someone else. He waited until I travelled 1000 miles back to pack him up and move him to tell me he wasn't going to be moving and that he had fallen in love with someone else. He tried to claim he waited to tell me because he thought I deserved to hear it in person but I know the real reason was that he wanted to keep our dog and he knew I'd be bringing him with me for the trip. He was truly a narcissist of the highest order. I was so mad at myself for a long time after because I didn't understand how I could have missed/ignored all the warning signs that were so obvious looking back. Even within the first couple months of our relationship, there were red flags. Moral of the story is to trust your gut and protect your heart because nobody else can!
