This guy clearly is one of the most interesting characters here on this channel. Not because he's the funniest, but because he's the most honest. He's not playing some kind of role to hide his true self. He's just speaking out clearly what he thinks. Even if you don't like his view on these topics, you should be thankful to have the opportunity to listen to a veteran who is completely honest about his feelings. This is what interviews are about

But the civility throughout the world would change if everybody was like this guy talking. Heck, he straight face strangle you in your bed if were drunk or on drugs. War in the beginning was supposed to be like.... Let's go back to the revolutionary war, most of the Americans were complete sane volunteers who didn't want to kill nor murder. But rather they just wanted to suppress and not actually kill anybody. But once you go to towards the civil war era, it all gets in their mentality that they just want to kill kill and kill. You have to remember yourself, who you really were in front of holy God's eyes. He would be disgusted to even look at you, Holy God creator himself would rather turn his back upon you then to look at you doing these corrupt ill minded things.

Yes of course most people could kill another human being if they are put in a position where they have to safe them or a loved one. But no one should be that excited to kill someone. Matsurie N. I'm betting it's partially a coping mechanism, but also just try getting in his head and following his reasoning. Imagine being young, the adrenaline, walking on a razor's edge, the feeling that everything in your life before you has led to this moment. You'll feel a sense of purpose never before felt. He might express it in a way that feels foreign to you but just try to getting into his head. Another important part, imagine getting a bond of brotherhood with your peers that's unexplainable in civilian life, being able to trust people _unconditionally_ (even if you dislike said people) and then see them killed before you, for no reason. Witness civilians getting killed for no reason. Then find the people that are to blame for that (I don't want to get into politics and who is to "blame"). Of course you will want revenge, or feel righteous for killing them. Some will act like they would stand above that but they'll never know for real. All these feelings he expresses might not be as unthinkable as you may feel, he just expresses them more bluntly. As I said, people don't want to think about these things, because it scares them. Everyone has this potential.
@Xeloss96
@Xeloss96 6 жыл бұрын
I definitely have to agree with you on the coping mechanismand and I can totaly see where you come from. Of course everyone deals differently with a past like that but the things he says and tone in his voice is just wrong. I know everyone is diffrent and everyone has a diffrent upcoming and past but he seems like a dangerous and unstable person who can snap anytime. Sorry, if killing gets easy for you, maybe its time to seek some help but as he said its a taboo topic.

Most humans CAN kill if driven to the edge of self-preservation. But we are designed for empathy and cooperation. Night terrors, ptsd, coping mechanisms (like alcoholism) are all signs that we damage ourselves when we kill.

"Designed for cooperation and empathy." What a load of BS. The entire reason racism and wars even exist at all is because of our tribal instincts that tell us not to trust people that aren't apart of our tribe. War is a part of our nature as much as love is. A man like Josh would have been a proud and venerable warrior in a different culture.

The way some Americans talk about the war in Irak or Afghanistan creeps me out. They seem to generalize the whole population to be Taliban and use it as an excuse to justify why they are leading a war. But they often forget or ignore the fact that the Talibans are minorities in those countries. Meanwhile the civilians are not only victims of the Taliban but also the foreign military "trying to save the world".

this man is absolutely fascinating to me - I will never forget seeing him in the war video years ago and seeing this video checking in with him again I was so excited to watch. The way he talks about war is a completely heartbreaking in such a different way than I've ever heard other veterans speak. This man, I will argue, is extremely intelligent. He sees war for what it is - nasty, sickening, and brutal and speaks about it in such disgusting ways and so bluntly that it really makes me believe that it is a part of humanity that I will never experience that cuts to your core and makes you evaluate every part of the human spirit. I don't support or believe a thing that he says in my personal core. I am a pacifist at heart, but damn...he's been places in his psyche and has had war pervade his body in ways we as civilians will never know. I would love to just sit down, and have dinner with him and just listen to him speak. There is so much pain, anguish, and intelligence in him that I want to understand.

Good on Josh for going towards a PhD in Psych in order to help out his fellow vets! This is also a prime example of the phrase, "You can't criticize what you aren't actually involved in." People who've never been involved in life or death situations like war, myself included, will never know what it's like to experience that type of situation until we're actually in it. Frankly speaking, I hope I never have to experience something like that. War is scary...and the loss of lives is disheartening.

You prove what he said. “You’ve never been there. You’ve never seen a buncha kids step on landmines.” You’re in a cozy safe environment and have never experienced something so desensitizing before. Be disgusted if you want but do realize this shit is what war does to people. The human instinct has the ability to kill. We are homo sapiens. The most intelligent species of animals or in a more scientific term organism to ever exist. We since the stone age killed eachother. Our ancestors did it and we still do it now. I would like to see a memoir when he’s older as well. Although I don’t think he’ll change all too much. People are to numb and baby’ed since their civilian birth that they literally can’t come to terms with the fact someone could just have no remorse for killing another. Some individuals are more mentally desensitized than others.

I respect this guy for his decision to join the ARMY and his willingness to be on the front lines, truly I do. HOWEVER his opinions and views of war and the decision(s) to kill insurgents are merely that, opinions. I can say this because I too am a fellow service member (Proud member of the Marine Corps) with multiple combat deployments under my belt (07-2, 09-1) and though I myself engaged the Taliban on many occasions, killing others ALWAYS, regardless of reason, leaves an impact with an individual. There is no exception....

The things he says are chilling, but the point is that it's also deserving of some sympathy. This "war is rad" mentality was his personal way of getting through it. Maybe he needed it, maybe he didn't, but it got him through. Then when he comes back home he's expected to pretend he didn't enjoy any of it in order to fit into society. You can imagine there must be a lot of urges and reinforced habits he has to suppress in day to day life now just to avoid being an outcast, so it's important that he has a space like this where he's allowed to really talk about it. There are definitely moral questions that can be asked about why he joined in the first place and whether Cut should try giving more of a voice to soldiers from the other side. But there's also no denying that he's had traumatic experiences, so I don't think it helps anyone to assume he is entirely at fault for ending up this way.

His mind is just objective thinking, if you applied objective thinking to situations like your job, you would be so much better at your job. Nothing about this guy seems off, he's just an objectively truthful person... What's so hard to understand... He's not wrong in the head at all, are you saying that anyone who looks at things from an objective stand point in their day to day jobs is wrong in the head? I don't get it... War is just a job, it's not really a good one but it still is a job, but this job just so happens to evolve killing, how do I make sure I do my job in the war, by killing my target, and making sure that things don't get close that I consider a threat, that way of thinking isn't bad at all, that's how it should be in fact... for jobs at least This job isn't to base morals man, that will and can get you or others killed in the military, if people based their decisions on morals in the military, all because they didn't want to shoot a teenage boy with a gun because they didn't think a kid was capable of killing, wrong kiddo, that kid will behead your ass and put it on LiveLeak for everyone to see. It's war man, if you don't shoot because of morals, you will get yourself or your teammates killed. I've heard shit about how people will say "It shouldn't be a game", you're right, it's not a game, it's an objective, if I don't kill the target in war, I die, and everyone else who doesn't dies as well, and then you'll have no military to defend yourself from Russia, then Russia will invade and take away your freedom, is that what you want? No? then shut the fuck up.

I understand where this veteran is coming from, He found a way to mentally not feel bad for taking a life. Which honestly these men and women in the military are giving up their mental health along with time with there own family TO PROTECT OUR COUNTRY and others. So if a vet has to find a different perspective to look at what he has done to mentally cope and not feel guilty then that shouldn't bother anyone. He's going to school and growing as a human being to help support other vets just like him. He wouldn't be able to do this if he sat at home and beat himself up about every life he has had to take.

Tsunade Sama You’re demeaning our own military who fought for your rights. Comparing them to terrorists and justifying what they do indirectly just to prove a point. That’s a bit... Dark if I must say. The US military isn’t innocent by any means. I’m sure the mass majority don’t just want to slaughter everyone they see. But you don’t see American soldiers beheading their own people. As well as record it. But no our big bad military is so unjustified for going there as intruders when we wouldn’t be there if they hadn’t intruded on our own soil. *cough 9/11 cough* The terrorists got what they deserved and lost. Going so low as to use children against our troops forcing our men to kill them or be killed. Your superior orders you to do so. If you think they’d choose to just die your wrong. That’s called defying orders and a one way ticket to a court martial. You lose a lot of rights in the military. You don’t have the luxuries of freedom in some cases. I’m sure a lot of troops wouldn’t have killed the kids or civilians they killed. But majority of the civilians that were killed in that war were by their own people. Pretty pathetic.

His mindset is objective, he sees that he has to kill a target, and the way he's made that easier for himself is reminding himself that those type of people are absolutely bat shit insane, who will use children to suicide bomb him, just to kill him. If you looked at everything in life, and saw all the objective right and wrongs in life, you wouldn't step out of line at all, he doesn't lead by subjective or morals, he leads by objective values, and that's something that everyone should understand, use objectiveness in your jobs rather than deciding on morals, he used objectiveness on his job, and that's good.

Guy is on point on many things war is like. I can relate and agree with most if not all. It is fun but not your same fun like playing a game or enjoying a day out with your friends on a Saturday night. It’s fun in its own way. It builds connections deeper than anything else you’ve ever had or will have. It gives you a purpose in life and every time you cheat death you feel a little bit more invincible. War is beautiful yet chaotic. It is missed by many and I guess only people that have seen it will understand this. As a fellow infantryman I can say Josh knows what he is talking about and I also share the same goal that we are the only ones that can help our brothers. None of us should be dying from our own hands.

I think my way of leading that life of being a soldier would be to always remind myself that I am not just there to only serve my country but to help these people that we came to help in the first place and do all I can to help them lead a better life while destroying what stands in the way of their progression. Maybe it's a naive way of living my life but I think that's the soldier I will be when I join.

See your friends die to the people you're shooting at. See children get blown up by mines. See a culture which makes women dress in black bedsheets in some of the hottest areas of the world. Oh wait, you live in a bubble protected by the warriors like Josh who just want the people at home to have a democratic system to live in where we elect our officials and have freedom of speech, freedom to protect ourselves, freedom from government based persecution on race and religion. You don't care because you take for granted what others spill their blood for. There's something sickening about our societies indifference to those who protect our values and fight those with fucking horrible values. I guess we should leave and let them just butcher and destroy their people huh? Guess we should let extremist fascist radicals try to unify the Middle East to move toward global domination huh? That's what their ideology calls for, and now that they're weak and they can't march over the bodies of Israelis and Austrians or Greeks or Romans who supported democratic values that we enjoy today we should just leave them alone and let them unify to bring us into a world war with nuclear implications. Great plan.

People in the comments don't realize that calling him crazy is literally the worst thing you can do. When you are in a war zone you have to learn to kill or be killed, you have to witness people die and it will be people you know. You grow a hatred for the enemy on the other side and that is really good during a war for the soldiers, nobody will stop any soldier from thinking they are worse than animals since it makes them fight better, it's not weird or wrong that he enjoyed killing because that´s what he did from 18 - 24 which is a really fucking long time to be in that mindset. Nobody should blame him, he even admitted his own faults in this video yet 90% of the comments are how this guy is insane and should be "monitored closely". My father has talked a lot about my great grandfathers time in WW2 and how it effected him. He apparently even during his death bed (old age) died with a disgust and hatred for Germans. It was so filled in his mind the hatred he felt when he lost friend after friend on the battlefield and with all the propaganda it stuck with him. If you think its not normal for soldiers to feel this kind of disgust for the enemy you haven't talked or read into war from a soldiers perspective. Josh I know you won't read this but I want to say you are a true legend for coming out and talking and advocating for mental health especially for soldiers I have PTSD as well but from non war related things and it was extremely hard for me to accept the fact that I needed help and that came from the fact that I have always been taught that men are supposed to suck up and take it in my family. Great video Cut I really appreciate you making another one allowing him to further explain his stance.

Most of these comments are just basing their opinions on morals and subjectiveness rather than objectiveness, they think being nice to the enemy will help in war, and sadly those soldiers learn the hard way that isn't going to work. I honestly just see war as a dangerous job, that has an objective, kill your targets and win the war, that's it... that's it, and hating the enemy and loving to kill the enemy is even better, because then you grow a passion to be the best at killing those targets, it's the same as hunting... that's all it is, I don't understand why it's always morals with these people, this wasn't vietnam people, this was iraq war, where they used children as suicide bombers, those people were terrible people.

I love this guy. Even though I don't agree with everything he's saying I still respect him. You can tell he's been through some rough shit but he's still trying to better himself and others. There's something about the way he carries himself that I find oddly refreshing.

It's wrong to your mentality, but to him it was awesome that he was in power and could at certain circumstances, control somebody's life. A lot of corrupt people have this mentality but just be glad he's on our side

Maximum Truce it’s a fucked mentality to want to control sombody’s life. That’s legit the same arguement you could use to support slavery, homophobes or transphobic ppl

Yeah dude his feeling is "really wrong" , its not like there are hundreds of people playing through some simulated reality or situations in which they find enjoyment out of killing people, he is the only one that feels that way.... O wait video games.

Albatross ok but he actually killed people and said that he enjoyed it. Killing a simulated person can be satisfying but that’s not even near the same thing

Hey i see your point and i get it I'm just saying it shouldn't seem that strange if people are purposely going out of there way to try recreate some primal feeling in them that most vets do feel when they take another life its kinda like a power high and playing most FPS's which is one of my favorite pastimes gives you this feeling i mean that;s what most of my family who served thought. Killing a person is wrong and fucked up but its not that surprising if someone finds enjoyment in it during war its the adrenaline and knowing your got the better of someone.

And I agree with you. If you are a soldier, killing someone "bad" is an ever present thought but that doesnt mean you should celebrate it like he does. I mean he said he had a rad fucking time... cmon have some respect

He is definitely brutally honest and he should. The best way to overcome trauma is to speak about it. Specially if it is something you had no power over, you had no choice. Now, the first time he was definitely on something. He not only looked high; he looked psychopathic. He looks much better now. Hope he is doing fine.

Manuel Garcia I couldn't care less about the state of his testicles but considering the fact that I'm a woman who doesn't have any I'm assuming that he indeed and quite literally has more balls than me. I do however wish him and his balls the best ✌ furthermore my original comment was not meant to belittle him, it's just an observation and a personal opinion. You were the one who made a connection between height and "ball size" so maybe it's not me who should consider the size of their balls ;)
