I think you're assuming a lot, here. He's clearly more emotionally expressive, which kinda tracks with what she said about why they had a rocky breakup. She says she tried to end it with him more than once but ended up backing out of it because she was afraid of the severity of his emotional reaction. Not saying he's wrong for having emotions, obviously, but it's a legitimately difficult situation to be in when you feel you need to leave, but also feel responsible for someone else's mental health.
