Cute Bernese Dog does not want to have a bath and does everything to avoid it

Olly the Bernese Mountain Dog had to have a bath yesterday. He does not like being groomed. Every time the bath is due he figures that out and refuses to go anywhere near the bathroom. He managed to avoid the bath for 2 hours yesterday, before getting, or rather being dragged, in there. Compare that to Albert who knew the words lets go have a bath and would simply walk to the bathroom.

My newfie was exactly the same. He had no problems swimming in the lake or jumping in dirty ditches but despised being put in the tub and washed. It became more and more difficult to trick him into the shower. He soon learned that we always moved the shower curtains before his bath and then he was nowhere to be found. Dogs are cool.

Our Berner loves his leather couch, too! I take him to a place where we have a private waterproof room with a stainless steel table and hose. He won't stay on the table, so I "chase" him around the room with the sprayer. It's definitely a two-person job!

Thanks for this awesome video of Ollie! It made me laugh and cry at the same time. Our dog ( a Bernese too) died in April and I miss her so much! Watching Ollie's antics brought back those days when I had to figure out how to bathe her without getting her paws wet (she absolutely hated when they got wet...) I so wish I could lift him and carry him sometimes 😀😀 But this was the most I can do with his 100lbs of fluff. Albert was not a big fan of the bath but he would go to the bathroom when asked there and just stood in the shower like a good boy he was 😘

@@albertandolly I share your feelings. My Odin was the same as Albert. Odin would let me doing ANYTHING to him and was patient and tolerant. My first and always love. Olly and Rollo are characters, the best in their own silly way and help to fill the void from our biggies who are running together in heaven with all the other awesome Berners 😍🐾.

That was so funny to watch. Loved seeing Olly being gently pushed/persuaded on the floor towards the bathroom door. Once inside he seemed rather calm and tolerated being washed. We used to do the same trick with Chevy, leaving a trail of chicken chunks leading to the shower, but he too would stop eating as he neared the door. Surprisingly, our last "spa session" went very smoothly and we didn't need to coax him with any food. Chevy seems to like being soaped and showered but he won't go into any water deeper than his paws. I really like your long counter/cupboard leading to your kitchen. Your house looks beautiful and clean or dirty, so is Olly!👍🐶💙

I had a Rott that hated baths. I started giving her treats during the bath. I gave her favorites Cheese and Baloney. I couldn't get her out until she inspected the plate.

That is so not true. They are exposed to dirt, toxins, allergens, dead skin cells, smelly things and sometimes an unhealthy skin condition just like us. For the health of their skin and coat, they need bathed at least every few months. You clearly know nothing about dogs skin and coat, especially a Bernese that has an undercoat and bathing helps to loosen it, keeps their coat healthy and helps them in the summer months. They may not like the scented shampoos we use which should be as chemical free as possible, and yes, they'd much rather roll in duck poop, but there isn't a dog in the world that doesn't show they feel better after a bath. Mine prance around in happiness, and their coat shines and softens. It's clear it's appreciated and needed.
