Bono and Dora, so cute and adorable, 5 year old pugs and they are twin brothers. They live with another human baby sister. And to live with this human baby sister, they started to shave hair. Because Pugs are a breed that has more hair loss.. Pugs eliminate year-round, while most other dogs eliminate seasonally. All dogs go through a three-step process of growth, rest and hair loss. The Pug breed tends to go through this cycle much faster than other large or small dogs.
But it was not easy to decide to shave Pugs as they have double coats, to protect their skin and maintain the ideal body temperature. Pugs stick their tongues out and breathe faster, some owners think the shaving hairs will help take away some of this heat. Double-haired Pugs, the new fur will grow back, but the undercoat will grow back first. The texture of the soft undercoat absorbs the sun's rays, making your dog warmer in summer. If you need to groom your pugs because of their fur allergy, protect your Pug with sunscreen when you're exposed to the sun for more than 10 minutes.
The pug hair after shaving grows back normally. Bono and Dora always shave hairs every 2 months, I shave many other pugs, they grow fur the same as before. But if you're worried, try it on a small area of ​​skin first and see how it grows back.
But if you're okay with allergies, a quick daily brushing, or even scrubbing with a dog glove, is usually enough for the coat.

Umm this is exactly why they are groomed this way? If they don't, hair gets in their eyes everyday and their fur is not always clean it is dusty... during this process the hair is in the eye for a little bit then they are cleaned up and wiped. No need to worry! They also have 2 coats. Top layer can be shaven off 😊 grows very fast!

You never ever ever shave fur unless it is very long and matted to the skin or there is some other medical reason to do so. Fur is not like hair. It is hollow and actually works to keep the dogs cool when it's hot, so by shaving them you are actually inhibiting their ability to cool down. If you are worried about shedding, use a Furminator or a number 40 blade and comb them out daily. As a groomer you should never accept a client insisting on shaving fur because it is bad for the dog.

I agree with you 100% pugs should not be shaved. My husband and myself have a black male pug and we would never shave him. Yes he sheds alot of hair and yes we need to start brushing him out but to shave him because they shed no way.

If the dog is inside most of the time it doesn't matter if they're shaved or not. Some pugs fur grows back thicker or has ingrown hairs, and it is best to test how a patch grows back. It is not a one size fits all, their skin and fur is not always forever ruined. If they might get sunburn, put some sunblock on. With or without shaving, they don't do well outside for long periods of time anyway. Generally, if someone gets their pug shaved, it may help the owner's allergies, you don't know. Otherwise, there's no technical need, sure. But they did not look like a pair of dogs that were extra dirty or starved. People are overthinking. They looked happy and cute!

As a professional Dog Groomer myself. I was told never, ever to shave a short haired dog as it ruins the hair growth and naturally the dog can't cool down in hot weather, however I've recently had a customer call who wants me to shave down three pugs one that's a Puppy. I must say, I'm not feeling very comfortable about it, even more so as watching this video. Reverse clip was something i wasn't taught at college. So i think I'm going to say no.

Realistically the do have a big problem with breathing thats true sometimes with eyes. But if your pug is active daily. Kept on an optimal weight for size and groomed they are very healthy and long living. Now im too oposed to shaving them fully as i dont see how would that help but my pug has extea long butt and neck hair and i trim it down with size 15 european to match with the rest of the hair and didnt have problems so far

Dogs are not ment to be shaved unless they are a breed of dog that has to be shaved like poodle ect. You make me upset watching your video shame on you.
