I took a chance and bought some cheap online glasses from Zenni Optical but did I regret my Zenni purchase? Here's my full experience.

Would you be surprised to know that Zenni Optical has been around for at least 20 years? Well they have. I found out about Zenni thanks to my girls. I should mention that I was an optician for many many years and by girls, I'm referring to the young ladies that worked in our optical store. Nearly all of them wore glasses and even though though they each received a free pair every 6 months as well as a yearly eye exam as a company benefit, when they heard about Zenni from someone they were often found ordering glasses and sunglasses from their. Mainly prescription sunglasses since they weren't allowed to order sunglasses as their free pairs. But if they something else they liked as regular glasses they would order it as well. Now as their manager, as well as friend, I was very skeptical of any glasses that were so inexpensive being very good quality and even worse how accurate the prescriptions would be. So as they started placing orders for their glasses from Zenni I insisted that before any of them started wearing their glasses they would first allow me to check the prescription of their glasses. As it turned out the quality of their glasses was really very good and the prescriptions were as accurate as our own lab would be. So that was over twenty years ago. To this day Zenni is my favorite on-line glasses site and I have ordered quite a few pairs of glasses from Zenni for my own family as well as many friends. Now to be fair over the years my girls found several more really good glasses sites that you may want to check out as well. Lensmart and Payne Glasses are both really good and priced about the same as Zenni. So just curious, how did you break your glasses? You were lucky that you were able to tape them together well enough to wear them. You apparently wear glasses fulltime which means that you're eyes are quite dependent on your glasses to see. So having your glasses lost or broken is never a good thing for you. Usually once you become a fulltime glasses wearer a backup or spare pair is rather necessary. But sometimes that's not possible due to how expensive glasses cost at a local optical store. So after breaking your glasses you saw someone on Instagram and you liked her glasses and after reaching out to her as to where she got her glasses from and what brand they were she never relied to you. trying to find out when she didn't reply isn't easy to find since there are so many frames out their. Your brother somehow was able to find something either very similar or the exact same frame for you. So this was going to be your first experience ordering glasses on-line. This is the main reason more people aren't ordering their glasses on-line. The fear of doing something wrong. But once you got your prescription information from your doctor's (optometrist) office were you surprised at how easy it was to transfer your prescription into the Zenni site? I think people think that their prescription is very complex and confusing. But considering all the tests the doctors do the actual prescription is actually very simple. You're nearsighted and if you are only nearsighted all you have is one number per eye as your prescription. But even if you have astigmatism correction it only adds two numbers per eye. So still quite simple. Zenni and other sites are very good in leading you from page to page with things. So I see that you got the Blokz option which is the blue light blocking lenses for screen work. The Blokz coating also includes an AR coating as well which is great for reducing reflections and glare from your lasses. Now if you ever order glasses an don't want the Blokz coating always be sure to then get the optional AR coating which is only $4.95. Now one thing you should know is that the lens thickness they recommended to you was the 1.61 thickness and cost about $13.00 more than the 1.50 lens thickness. Seeing what your prescription is and based on the fact that the glasses you ordered were a full plastic framed style of frame you really didn't need the thinner lens thickness. Now if you were getting a rimless or semi-rimless frame then you may have wanted the thinner lenses in your glasses. But being a full frame the frame will block any lens thickness tha you might have which really isn't all that much anyway. Now to be fair Zenni isn't trying to over sell you. It's just impossible to make a computer do too many things such as determining the lens thickness based on the frame style. Just keep that in mind for when you order more glasses. If you get a full plastic frame override Zenni's "recommendation" and order the 1.50 thickness and save yourself $13.00. Because you selected the Blokz it did show that an AR coating was free, or included with the Blokz coating. Your one issue was in the color of the glasses being different from what they appeared to look like on screen. I'm not sure why that is but that seems true with glasses in general from all of the sites being slightly different in color for some reason. You said you were wanting something different and they are completely different from your previous broken glasses for sure. But I really do like them and they do seem to be a nice perfect fit. Are you aware that on the inside of the temples of your broken glasses you have a set of 3 numbers. Those numbers represent the frame size of those glasses. The first number you see is the width of one of the lens in your glasses. The second number is the bridge area or the part that fits on your nose. The last number is the length of the temples. All of the numbers are in millimeters. Anyway by matching as closely as possible to those numbers with glasses you see on-line should provide you with good fitting glasses. Also another way i always suggest is by measuring across the face portion of your glasses, in millimeters, and matching that with the overall width of glasses you see on-line. if you have any questions about your eyesight or glasses please feel free to e-mail at a [e-mail]
