I ABSOLUTELY Love it!!!!! I wouldn't call it 'steampunk' tho ... but I guess I might have a different idea of steampunk than you.... I think if it had leather on it, and at least one useless gauge or dial, OR some kind of protruding pipe.... or it was wearing circular lensed welding glasses THEN I would call it steampunk LOL You did a FANTASTIC job of aging and marking it up... those "knicks" all over it look GREAT! anytime I've made something and tried to give it age, I always over do it by adding too much of one type or marking or just too many types or marks.... you did a great job by sticking to one type and just crossing a few lines over top of each other to make it more complex looking, but it's really just a simple marking.... EXCELLENT WORK! - now as far as the blade... it LOOKS like it's dull as hell... it really does!! And you didn't even have to do anything to make it look that way.... But the oil quench was just for looks, it really was to harden the blade right? I just don't recall seeing you temper it afterward.... so that's why I'm confused as to whether it was to harden it or if it was purely cosmetic.... Anyway... GREAT WORK!!

So known hardened steel for handle, unknown bar for blade. Thats backwards

The bar used is 5160 steel, not unknown. This was only ugly because I did several tests with it. And hardening in the chassis part is necessary for the spring to work and not lose pressure. 😉👍
