Unique Antique Lighter Restoration

Old lighter restoration. In this video, I showed the restoration of a rare lighter from the beginning of the 20th century. I bought this lighter at an antique store. The seller said the lighter belonged to a sailor. This lighter had many missing parts. I made all the missing parts and polished the lighter. Now it can work for another 100 years. No they didn't. That was a brutal hackjob. It was painful to watch. They destroyed it.

he couldn't bc he transformed the original lighter, the spark wheel original was one with the body and it broke , you can see the mark left by the broken piece, so in order for him to repare that scar in the metal he had to sand to level the surface , that means in that area where he has leveled the surface, the shining metal would be visible and it would look awful plus the new sparking wheel it would be shinning too, bc is new , so at the end it would be a carnival . I'm on the side to let things with its patina but sometimes you can't , like in this case, bc a big part of the object is missing . The good thing is that brass take patina quick .

When you put the old wick back in as wadding, I smiled. Beautiful restoration, though I agree with the other comments which mourn the patina. It'll take some time to build back up to that color and luster.

Oh, 10! I saw one in a museum in Canada once. And then again in a specialty store in LA, USA. It specialized in unique antiques that all had to do with the smoking industry. They even had a museum attached to it.
