I really hate to be that person and i dislike myself for saying that, but comments like this are the reason people tend to buy animals instead of fostering thousands of kittens roaming on the streets. I’ll never forget… while my dad was away and I was having a sleepover with my cousin, my dad’s barn cat gave birth under the house. We both took her and her babies inside and kept them on the couch for the night. One of her babies was struggling with feeding and hypothermia so we both worked around the clock to warm the kitty and try getting her to feed. I “slept” on the adjacent couch but I was up for most of the night, my cousin slept on the larger couch with the cats: mamma cat cuddled against my cousin with her new born babies in between them (she had never met my cousin before that night, but the mamma cat was so trusting of her and people in general). I’d help the kittens find a nipple to latch and stimulate their ears to help them feed, especially the struggling kitten. I’d walk by the back door throughout the night and mama cat would go out if she needed to pee and then come back, even though we’d never had this routine before because she was only outdoors. She knew and trusted her babies were safe alone with me and that she could come back for them after she was done outside. Even still, at first I was worried I wasn’t helping that much, like maybe I was contributing to mamma cat’s stress because of how much she was panting during the nursings. I would give her warm towels and bowls of kitten formula to hydrate and feed her through the night, but I worried humans weren’t supposed to interfere in these moments. But I found out I was wrong. I cried when I noticed that when the kittens would fall asleep briefly after a feeding on the large couch, mamma cat would run across the couches into my arms, desperate for snuggles and love. She’d nuzzle me like her life depended on it. As soon as the newborn babies woke up and meowed, she’d run right back to them, feed them, then immediately come back to me for a cuddle. It was like she needed her own momma that night, she needed to be loved and nurtured as much as those kittens needed her own maternal love. I realized that child labor and motherhood must be just as stressful and physically tolling on animals just like it is on people, it was such an oddly human moment to see in her eyes. I realized this wonderful mamma cat trusted me and needed me in such a vulnerable moment, and even though I slept three hours that night, the night before my flight out of the country, I cherish every second that my cousin and I could be a part of such a beautiful occasion. PS: that mamma barn cat and all of her kittens born that night are still doing great! The struggling kitten totally pulled through :)

I had 4 adult cats that all slept with me & 1 was pregnant so I made sure she had several "nesting" spaces that were clean, safe & private. I woke up to my big male - sitting on my pillow - smacking my head to wake me up & I noticed he looked horrified & was staring right behind me at something on my bed behind me (I am a side-sleeper) & he kept smacking my head like - WTF mom? And I hear this teeny-tiny squeak..... She had started to give birth & no private spot for her, she wanted momma & her other half she was pair bonded to the male. I was really surprised that she wanted to do it on the "stage" where EVERYONE slept.

I remember when I was just 18. I came home from work and saw my Dalmatian dog was going into labor! I rushed inside to change my clothes quickly, but when I came back out, she had already birthed a pup on the sidewalk outside my door! I took her to the garage, where I had a box set up for her to give birth, and five more puppies were delivered. I ended up keeping “sidewalk pup” for the next 15 years! This started the process of always having a dog for the next 30 years! I want another one badly, but promised myself to wait until I retire, less than 5 years from now. I live alone, and don’t want another dog until I can be home all the time! I feel it would be cruel to get a dog and leave it alone all day, while I’m at work!

The mom and babies is sooo sweet , but will all those babies get good homes ?? I would have to keep them all to make sure they would be loved 😍😍

This is SO sweet! I love how the tiny little Baby squeaks when you pick them up like "Mommy!" Then instantly their Mother mews reassurance to them so they calm and only give one last defiant squeak when you put them back in bed like "That's better!" Such gorgeous Babies and Mommy 😸😹😻❤️
