Brian Blessed is an international treasure. Everyone sees him as this boisterous performer because of “Flash Gordon” and his personality, but he is an amazing actor. “I, Claudius” demonstrates what a brilliant actor M. Blessed is. If William Shatner can go to space, let’s have Brian Blessed get his shot as well!

I am now 70. I hated TV back in my younger days because the news used to stress me out after work and all the soaps. This became the first of a very few series that I actually made time to sit and watch. Every episode. All the great names played their parts so well. I was there in that time when they were on. I must say tho. The hinge pin that made it for me was Derek Jacobi. It was his acting and narration that pulled me into Ancient Rome like a black hole. Total respect to those who did this show in any way or form. Best thing I ever saw on TV by a long chalk and by crikey, I really mean that.

I Claudius is timeless and essential viewing to those who haven't seen it before but its brilliance can also be quite depressing when you look at the state of UK TV these days. Brian's guest appearance in Blake's 7 just a few years later is also memorable and highly recommended. An absolute legend of an actor. and bravo for mentioning the importance of Jamers Webb and space exploration.

A wonderful man and a wonderful series. Brian was correct in stating that it had their best actors. I am so happy to see it being brought back especially since, over here at least, to show these new generations that these actors are more than Prince Vultan and the cast of Dune. Hopefully it will be available on BBCA and/or Britbox or another streaming service outside of the UK. And I know Brian's real reasons to go out into space. 1) He wants to climb Olympus Mons on Mars. 2) To challenge the "In Space, no one can hear you scream" axiom.

I watched 'I, Claudius' a few years ago out of curiosity, and I can vouch for it being one of the greatest series ever created. Brian Blessed just embodies Augustus, and of course the whole cast is fantastic (and full of famous names). If you have any interest in ancient Rome, the corridors of power, messy family drama, or want to see an intriguing underdog story, then 'I, Claudius' is an excellent choice.
