There's one detail I really noticed in the candy scenes that most of the children will just ramble around and their parents will just be eating candy apart while Charlie spent most of his time with his grandpa...Nice touch

@@ParrotOfTheJungle the quote is the beginning of a poem written in the late 1800s called “Ode” the line is borrowed from that and used by Wonka

That's fascinating.. I never knew that about Willie Wonka, using a famous poem for one OF HIS OWN MOVIE LINES! I'll bet you didn't know this about Willie Wonka, huh, he was sexually assaulted in his acting school that he went to in Hollywood!! Yes, and afterward, he went back to where he grew up in Wisconsin to study theater and break into the movies via an alternative route to stardom!

I once read a comment under a video from this movie where the poster claimed to have been on the cast for it. They said that the 'chocolate river' tasted really really bad. They said though that Gene Wilder was really really good with kids and basically had a crowd of the kids followed him everywhere he went. The producers had to shoe them away once in a while so he could get some work done because he didn't have to heart to.

Never realized but this goes well for video games too. Just as they are wandering around and eating candy, we explore entire worlds where some really amazing things happen. Anything we want to do, we do it. While we're there, living in the world of imagination, we're free from the world and all its negativity. At least that used to be the case. Lot of toxic trolls keep trying to invade those spaces, but still...

Wow. That was unexpected... I sat and bawled through the entire song. I will never watch the Johnny Dep version. I'm sure it is wonderful for kids nowadays, but I feel strongly one should not mess with perfection. I will never watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas movie with Jim Carey either. The little 30 minute TV special with the beloved Boris Karloff... yeah, I'm perfectly happy bawling all the way through that one every year too! Gene Wilder was such a lovely sweet man.
