Beckett deserved to die. But, speaking from a purely strategist’s point of view, the only thing that could bring him down was the fall of his ally, Davy Jones, and placing a new captain in charge of the Dutchman. Otherwise, Cutler Beckett would surely have won. He was the Disney villain who almost got away with his crimes.

The Pirates are the only villain I see. From a POV of a regular civilian, Beckett was a hero. But the movie is in the Pirates point of View. Which makes Beckett the villain.

@@thecollector6392 Actually no. Beckett went too far, he killed Governor Swann, not considering him useful and an obstacle, and sentenced to death a child who only kept a pirate's coin. He came too far. Even for other Brits.

Золотое десятилетие пиратства было обусловлено крайне скудными условиями жизни обычного законопослушного моряка, сталкивающегося с низкими зарплатами, ограничениями и строгими законами ; и стать кем то кроме моряком на колониальных островах было очень тяжело. Все это было по вине колониальных стран, поставивших в приоритет приумножение прибыли за счет снижения комфорта рабочих. Поэтому пиратство было привлекательным, оно давало вкус свободы, пиратство стало настоящим проявлением демократии в ее неоформленном виде, но фактически рядовой пират имел больше прав и свобод нежели обычный моряк, который не имел ДАЖЕ карьерного роста. Поэтому нет злодеев или добряков - есть только просто деловой подход :))
