While watching this history of Sheffield cutlery, a package arrived. My new A. Wright & Son gentleman's jack, spear point blade, ebony scales. What a wonderful sensation to hold a brilliant piece from that part of the world while learning about the people and places that make it happen. Cheers!

Great video mate ! You certainly put the work in on this one didn't you ? You are quite right , the stories , traditions and knowledge of these cutlers needs to be kept alive , so they need to be highlighted .......which is where you come in matey !

I purchased an Arthur Wright knife about 6 months ago. It is a beautiful Barlow. I have a problem with it. It is very difficult to open and close. I have tried to break it in but have not had success.
@SteelCityKnives8 ай бұрын
James return it, mate. I'm sure whoever you got it from will sort you out. Something like that most definitely. A. Wright is very well known for strong pulls. Not all Sheffield knives have such strong pulls. Let me know how you get on, mate?
@slick_slicers8 ай бұрын
This is the thing that really bothers me about some of the life makers in Sheffield today. They are goaded by a number of KZbin reviewers who equate the strongest pull as the best knife. Most of us really don’t want to break her nails every time we open a pocket knife I think I’ve got this message over with Taylor‘s eyewitness, but nowhere else!
@drewwhite56018 ай бұрын
Totally agree with you @slick_slicers if you use a pocket knife correctly it doesn't matter if it has no snap at all , we all like to hear the little snap when it opens but it's all got a bit silly now , as with the gaps etc , anyway gonna shut up before I say something to offend someone 🤣👊

I kinda agree with you on the Wrights. A few of mine have broken in and eased off a bit, though. I love American cutlery, Solingen, and Sheffield. All my favourites. I think Sheffield probably manufactures knives to a more traditional way. But love them all equally 👊 Sorry for the late reply
