Thanks for the video.... i was visiting some relatives in Yorkshire and paid a visit to the famous Sheffield shop. They had confirmed to me that they would be open even though it was Good Friday.... well i was overwhelmed by all the pocket knives from various makers and ended up buying three barlows: An A. Wright and son is stag, a Michael May in ebony and turquoise and a premium Taylor's eye witness in buffalo. Now i am back in Malta and am so happy to have some real Sheffield cutlery in my collection!!! Thanks so much for your inspirations

@SteelCityKnives sorry for late reply. Unfortunately, we don't have dedicated knife shops here. We got individual importers of some brands like victorinox, leatherman and spyderco. I usually buy from european online shops or buy when i am on holiday as this time. Having said that, i am sure you will love a stay in malta during summer if you can handle the heat :) 😀... if you happen to be on the island please make sure to comtact me before as it would be a pleasure for me to take you and your mrs around some nice places.

I'm in San Francisco, and I visited that shop on my recent trip to England. I had a meeting very soon, so I couldn't spend as much time as I really wanted talking to Jane and the other staff. I ended up buying a few knives I liked, but I have to go back there sometime in the near future and have a better chat and look more closely at the stock. Really nice folks there!

That's brilliant. Funnily enough, I find myself on the Bernal shop site when looking online at knives. Which is in San Francisco they stock some brilliant knives. Jane and the staff are brilliant and really made my visit. Brilliant comment. Thankyou 😁
@tbessie3 ай бұрын
@@SteelCityKnives Well ALSO funnily enough, I'm going over to the Bernal shop tomorrow; one of the knives I bought in Sheffield has some spots on the blade, and an imperfection in the wooden handle. I called them to ask if they can remove the scratches I put in the blade trying to remove the spots, and if they can smooth out the imperfection, and they told me to bring it by. I only this year discovered that it was there, even though they've been there for awhile. Not a lot of good knife stores in the area (there's one in Petaluma I visited years ago - Sonoma Cutlery), but they're generally scattered around the Bay Area. So nice to have Bernal nearby!

@tbessie Sorry for the late reply. How did you get on? The site looks brilliant, with a lot of brilliant knives.
@tbessie3 ай бұрын
@@SteelCityKnives No problem. They buffed the knife (for free), but told me they don't do work on handles/scales, and suggested I find a woodworker or knife-maker who would be willing to do that. I called a few local woodworkers, but they all said they don't work on knives. A friend who is a wood-worker told me I should steam the dent-like imperfection in the scale to make it pop back out. I wasn't aware of that technique, so I'll try it.
@SteelCityKnives3 ай бұрын
@tbessie I haven't heard of that either. That technique. If woods damaged...its damaged I always thought. May I ask what knife you had the issues with? I find this all very interesting. There was a company in the UK that is no longer in existence. That used to recover knives with historic or unique covers. The guy that owned that said he found it hard to get people to do it. A skill in itself to re-cover knives. Sorry for the late reply. Currently in Cyprus.
