I love a small pocket wharni to do all kinds of mean cutting! S30v just makes it wonderful, really easy to sharpen that blade style as well.

Ordered! Glad i found this, my wharncliffe delica in vg10 was boring black frn and wasn't holding an edge long enough for my liking and this was actually the same price i paid for mine but with better steel and cooler color! Thanks so much for the heads up!

3:32 - That's the whole point of a wharncliffe blade. If you don't need to do a lot of tip cutting you shouldn't be carrying a wharncliffe.

rockets4kids Is that how you use the knife? I’ve done research and talked to a bunch of people that like the knife shape and that’s not what they say. They use the knife to pierce and then slash, do draw cuts, slip the blade under something and cut it without cutting what’s under the material.
@rockets4kids7 жыл бұрын
Obviously you can use a knife however you want. The style was *designed* for tip cutting. When you do a lot of tip cutting the tip rounds over from wear, and the spine profile was designed to allow the knife to be easily repointed when it wears.
@Alumapro237 жыл бұрын
rockets4kids Where’d you find that info? All the research I did mentioned Lord Wharrencliffe and carving, scraping, and to transfer maximum cutting power all the way from the heel to the tip of the knife.

Now that set of statements is not incorrect, but it is secondary. Tip repointing is just obvious to anyone who uses a non-disposable blade for tip cutting.

rockets4kids So your opinion is based off of use?

I may have to get one of those for myself! What is it you don't like about Wharncliffe blades?
@Alumapro237 жыл бұрын
Below Average Joe It seems like I’m always using the tip in my use. Seems like a waste of blade/you’d end up sharpening the tip down to nothing.

Alchemy_1 OK, I like Wharncliffes for utility jobs like box cutting, but we all need use what works for us.
@Alumapro237 жыл бұрын
Below Average Joe I’m going to give it a fair shot. I’ve never used one extensively. I try to buy outside of my comfort zone to find things that I may really like and not even know it. I try not to be the person that goes around saying they don’t like something and I never even gave it a fair shot.

Unkle Corky This one is just orange. The HAP40 version is burnt orange.
