Joseph voice in early 80s era remind me of Michael Jackson meets Kenny Loggins. But he also have his own style :) By the way. I always think that in early 80s era. He also looks like Paul Hardcastle :)

Joe’s options are pretty limited on Spotify for his early career. He really should put together a compilation from this period at least! Unless it’s because of copyright and material ownership he hasn’t, which would be a real shame.

...this solo work of Joseph Williams sounds like early 1984 / 85 that also would fit in a great movie, tv-series soundtracks in those days like Beverly Hills Cop, Miami Vice, Top Gun and such. Its unfortun that the album of Joseph Williams wich contained songs like "One More Chance" , "Everything You Say" and this one wouldn't be released at the height of AOR music thus in the early to mid eigthies...?

It's rumoured Michael also recorded a Demo to this in early 85 for his BAD Album that was suppose to be released in summer of 86...but instead Michael was offered the role of Captain Eo by Disney in summer of 1985 and that delayed the development of the BAD Album an extra year and wasn't released till August 1987. Michael's version had the same melody and similar instrumentals as this one (heavier bass) but the demo was called Hardline. The demo is unreleased and is said to be in the MJ Estate vaults

Hi-tech adult oriented rock? Kind of misses the point of what the music is about don't you think? As far as I can hear, this song uses Drum machines and Synthesizer just like most late 80's Bands including A-Ha, MJ himself, Madonna, Duran Duran, I could go on and on. This is from the 80's man. They did different kind of melodies and sounds back then. You will find this is true for most Areas . Same with Progrock or disco in the 70's, Grunge, Techno and MJ in the 90's.
@WithoutRemorse123 жыл бұрын
It was a subgenre. Some of music production was used in mainstream music. Is like when people early 80s Dance music was just Disco with a new name. There is a difference Disco in it's era was unapologetic . You notice that many artist in the Dance genre have issues going mainstream. Big pop artists can do Dance album or song when it's relevant. It doesn't hurt their career trajectory. Instead they are praised for taking risks and broadening their sound.
@renejrhodes883 жыл бұрын
@@WithoutRemorse12 I see your point, but it doesn't really address my critique. I would argue that understanding how the music was made, give thought to the music of the time this was made and knowing about the production gives a far more complete picture of what the music is all about.
