Note: There are four rolls of out take footage for the travelogue on Cyprus at approximately 50 minutes in length.
CYPRUS - Various shots of animal market. A variety of animals are present including sheep, goats and bulls. Blond woman in white dress looks around street market. C/U of a sign for "Fish & Chips" with a large arrow pointing right. L/S of woman running from the sea to beach carrying water skis over her shoulder. A man dries her down with a towel. M/S of blond woman buying small basket at market stall. Numerous shots of meat being cooked on outdoor grill.
Numerous shots of Priest painting and ringing bell. Panoramic views of the Cypriot countryside. M/S's of hunter walking down lane with shotguns. Various shots of men playing cards and board games in quiet village. Numerous shots of Makarios standing at doorway to large building with other dignitaries. He walks down steps to waiting car. M/S of Makarios being driven away. Various shots of the Cypriot countryside, there is some nice footage of very picturesque scenery.
M/S of Blond woman in yellow bikini lying on beach towel on beach. L/S's of speedboat pulling people on water-skis. M/S's of group of men on small rowing boat in harbour with fishing nets. Numerous shots of woman in uniform marching down street during gay parade with flags. M/S of Scouts marching. Numerous shots of the fruit harvest. Came across this by chance. My father is the military police officer saluting the president of Cyprus at 9 minutes and 15 seconds very brave an honourable man. Taken on March 25th 1963 President Makarios was escorted to a mountainous Country Spa Retreat for 6 Days in the Troodos Mountains after which my father escorted him to Lefkosia Costantinos Ioakimidis

Superb vignettes of Cypriot life, that include the co- existence of the two communities. For me, as a child of the 60’s , the final minutes showing the stunning scenery around Platres, is a real treat.

I was there from 1964 until 1967 - I loved the place. When I got my notice to leave for Germany I would have willingly stayed in Cyprus for another three years!
