One of my classmates from RM school (from 81) served onboard. He always spoke highly of her. Sad to see her sitting there stripped.

My father served on nthe Storis as Seman First Class from 1944 to 1946. The Coast Guard trained 2 regiments of Black seamen and assigned them to various vessels during WWII. There were several Blacks sailors in Dad's integrated crew. The ship was based in Boston and seved in the North Atlantis and Artic. Dad is 89 and proudly wears his Coast Guard Cap and ring. Dad you're my hero.

I was stationed on the storis!! That boat should have been decommissioned in the 90s. Every sailor that was on that boat after 2000 risk their lives being on that boat it was a death trap filled with asbestos

I was aboard 1980-82. Sadly, she is, at this moment on her way to Mexico for scrap metal. Oh, so heartbreaking.

Great ship. I served aboard her as an MK. Sad how she was illegally sold and chopped up in Mexico even after being made a historical landmark.
