Cutting aluminum with the Genmitsu 6050 PROver XL plus

A project to help out a friend of mine who has a shop in town. My first time ever cutting metal with a CNC. I think it turned out nice..

Consider a screw down magnet recessed into the spoil board. Set the aluminum workpiece in place. Set a lose magnet on the workpiece over the embedded magnet. That should prevent the workpiece from “escaping” the CNC workspace. Remove the magnet from the spoilboard when not needed.

I do the green painter tape on the bottom of the piece and on the spoiler board. then super Glue it down. It works Well but will gums up the bit after a while but rubbing alcohol cleans the right off.

Congratulation on learning Vcarve or Vcarve Pro. I have had Vectric Aspire for over 10 yrs now and tho" anything but an expert, I use it to design for my lasers also as it exports SVG files, among many others. It was very expensive but, as I told them, the more I used it the less expensive it became. My only complaint is that it is a Windows only software. I have been a Mac guy since 1984 and own several of them. I run Aspire inside of VMWare Fusion and it works as well as a Windows based machine. Keep up the good work....enjoy your videos....

Very intriguing! I have to cut my aluminum with a guillotine style cutter. Took a while to get it working easily, but I did! I cut a 12” x 24” sheet of sublimation aluminum into 1” squares, then round the corners off with a 1/8th” corner dye cut. I get to go up to 4” pieces.

Yea, Tim has all the cutters but the holes wasn’t something he was equipped to do.

I kept thinking: I hope the old hole isnt visible through the acrylic!!! As for milling the aluminum, I tried that on an aluminum block with my little 3018 from Genmitsu a few years ago and could do it just fine! I was just playing, so havent ever created anything since.

Are you trying tying to trigger my OCD, straighten that router up so it is parallel to the gantry. I wondered how long before we started seeing Jigs for the CNC.

If you talking about how I have I rotated in the clamp, that’s so I can control from the left side. Once my relay is back working, I will turn it….lol.. hopefully today

Just curious, do you not consider that flag disrespectful? A desecration of the American flag? Not trying to be mean just curious cause I like to know the people I follow and buy stuff off of. Thanks for your videos they are a lot of help.

No, it is not. Sorry for the history lesson but many people label things and Anti something without knowing the full scope of it. The flag has its origins in the declaration of independence, it was a symbol of independence and a warning to those that would trample on the rights of people (The British at that time). The original design was used by many folks who's name can be found on the bottom of the declaration of independence and helped to write the Constitution that we follow today. I also have the stars and bars, declaration of independence, bill of rights and many other historical items around my place. I am a firm believer in what our forefathers wanted in the breaking away from British rule at the time. The modern flag was not adopted until much later after the acquisition of all 50 states which was after 1960. The flag is not an insult or shot at anyone, It is simply a historical reference to ideas that most are the same as we should all have. I have spent 23 years protecting those rights of every person in my community as a law enforcement officer. As far as me, I believe that God gave all people rights that should not be controlled by anyone. All people should be treated equally and with respect. I believe that we are all entitled to our beliefs and opinions but do not have control over the opinions of others. I do not judge people by their beliefs, I do so by their actions toward others. Also, like the rattlesnake, I will not run away when faced with an attack or being stepped on. That is me in a nut shell... PS, watch my intro and notice the Stars and Bars is on the front of the shack....
