Lisa! You are a life saver. I have recent rescued a Union 36 Loom, having not had a loom for 47 years- I'm excited to make it work. Thank you for the videos! PS Where are you? You look like my Appalachian family. Loved your Mom video, too.

Thank you!! Just got gifted my Union 36. She needs a little TLC, but not so much I can’t use her as is. Thanks to your cozy, easy instructions, I feel confident to start weaving as soon as I get her set up in my home

Just some ideas, we use paracord to hold the header in place and use tacky fabric glue between the paracord and header to hold it together before tying . The glue will come out with the first washing.

Excellent job demonstrating, clear and informative. I will also add because it is a pet peeve of mine. I hate music in the background, it adds nothing to the experience of watching and it is just annoying. Thanks for the video.

Lisa, because of your excellent videos, I was able to set up my Union 36 loom and have just completed my first rug. It is not perfect, but it turned out pretty darned well! Thank you so much for your teaching. The only pervasive problem I have is that when I wound the 14 sections onto the warp beam, I did not realize that the threads would be packed more loosely in the last section due to the spools being lighter and therefore having less tension on them. I did not know that I should control the tension by hanging on the the thread bundle with my hand to make it pack more tightly. The outcome is that the right side of my rug has looser warp threads which causes the selvedge to be a little wonky. I'm trying weighting the threads in the last section and that seems to help. If you have any ideas on what else I can do, I would appreciate it. Thank you! Thank you!

Do you wash them when your done hemming? If so is it hand wash or gentle cycle in the washer?
@emmielou725 жыл бұрын
You are extremely creative! I was wondering what type of yarn you use for the crocheted warp?
@dyeingwoolforrughooking360411 ай бұрын
If you can leave the last rug on the loom and only take off the first ones, then you can just wrap that one around the rug beam instead of having to retie all the strings.

What do they look like after they are washed?

what did you use for warp?

Have made my 1st rug. A few mishaps, broken strings, strings twisted around the spokes on the warp beam (?) but I did it! Question -- in the video you unwrap the rugs and roll them up under the loom. Is that better than releasing the ratchet thing and pulling them toward you and rolling them that way? I've only made one rug and am taking it off as it is a gift for my 88 year old uncle. My grandmother had balls of strips of felt cut from the tops of pool tables that were in my grandfathers tavern. They had came with the loom when she gave it to me (40 yrs+ years ago!). Surprisingly they are not rotten and wove up beautifully. My uncle had worked in the tavern when he was young (20's). thanks again for your videos -- they are fantastic! The subscription is under my husband's name but I'm Bev

Hi Bev. That is a really cool story!! It is easier to release the ratchet for most people. I keep getting pinched when I release it so I do it the hard way🤓. Thanks so much for sharing and keep watching. Lisa.

I disagree. I don't even listen to this exact music, bit I enjoy it very much with all of her videos. I think everything about it is perfect, actually!
