As it happens, we know our Rover 4 stroke (35 years old) IC now has a limited future. Spare parts for such an old machine, including the grass catcher, are unavailable. It still starts with no more than 2 pulls. We have made a shortlist between Honda HRC216 V Masport President 3000 ST 19 combo. We will keep the Rover until it dies then consider its replacement. It was useful to see your video of the Honda HRC216 in action. An impressive machine made all the more impressive by the skilled users. Your customers should be impressed with your impressive handiwork. I'm impressed.

My personal experience with this type of grass is that I run over it at the highest setting without any catcher or Mulcher plug and let it all come out the back. Then rake it up. I also schedule a followup mow 1 week later when I catch the grass. Gives it a chance to recover from the shock that cutting that much of in one hit gives the grass. I also give the customer a stern talking too about letting the grass get too high, and why are they trying to kill their grass.
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
Hi MA thanks for watching. We usually mulch/mowing, but in this video, we just tried to experiment straight bagging it and measure the difference between the two. But we found it same thing, in our thoughts it was just your preference, both still take time to clean up.
@ausarias2 жыл бұрын
Glad I found your channel.. been watching your videos and wanted to ask how do you decide when to mulch and when to bag? I’ve seen you do both and both look 👍
@FujimeeVibes2 жыл бұрын
Normally if the grass is not to long you can just mulch and mow (but it depends on the clients request). But this one in the video the grass is overgrown so we really need to mulch and bag the grass clippings otherwise if we keep the grass there it will look messy and will be harder to mow on the next mowing job because the old grass will get stocked and hard to mow.

I run a couple of 196’s. I’d love to get a 216 for some jobs but majority of mine are small blocks with awkward lawns and I imagine it wouldn’t be great for that?
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, I think it is mainly just the maneuverability that is the issue coz 216 is big and heavy. For small lawns we use honda hru19 instead coz it is small compare to 216 and lighter.

best way to tackle these, Instead of catching straight away. cut it a few times without catcher, then final cleanup with the catcher then youll fit it in one bin
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
True. Most of the time we use rear discharge without bag but I don't know exactly why I did not do it this time. Haha probably because I just want to see hru216 perform in tough grass. 😅

But it still works well really still in my opinion. I am actually very impressed with the quality of cut. I did not have to do a few passes to cut the grass. It did a clean cut in one pass.

Hey mate, I’m still quite a new to the lawn care business game and is wondering how much you charge roughly for an overgrown lawn like this. Also great video!! Love the hru216

That one was $250 including the mowing, whipper snipping, and edging of front, nature strip, and back. whipper snipping of weeds on the side as well and bagging of extra clippings.
@kingarthur83rd3 жыл бұрын
Great video and fantastic end result. Although I am curious, for this height of grass, would it not be more efficient (granted it might not necessarily be quicker) to strim/weedeat/string trim etc the lawn to say 5 or 6 inches. then use the mower to clean it up?
@FujimeeVibes3 жыл бұрын
We used to whipper snip it first to bring down the height but I find it time consuming especially if it is struggling to cut the grass as you saw I did in the beginning of the vid. Now, as long as the mower can do it then mower will do it, otherwise whipper snipper is here to help. 😁

Hey Nick, thanks! What do you mean "what's with the camera"? About the grass clippings, we give them options whether to leave the bags in their premise or we take them. We leave them in the property most of the time to help them save cost instead of paying us extra to take clippings away. The customer then fills the green bin with the bags after the bin collection.

@@FujimeeVibes No We take the bags of Clippings away. If we leave the grass for the customer to dispose of we put it straight into their green waste bin. here in Melbourne Green Waste is almost always a 240 Litre Bin. Most mowing guys take the bags of grass to the tip. The cost of this is included in what we charge for the job. I however take mine home and put them in a big compost bin 2 metres by 2 metres by 1 metre. After about a year I have some really good compost that I then use on various clients garden beds and give away/sell for people to put in their veggie gardens. I have three of these bins. I usually fill just over one in a mowing season (Spring Summer Autumn). I calculate that this probably saves me a couple of thousand in tip fees, and the compost gives me brownie points with the customers.

Can I suggest always doing a fair sample of real time with sound in the video. Without that its really impossible to come to an informed decision about the capabilities of the mower. Shame not to have that when videos that put the mower to the ultimate test are so rare.
