Cutting and propagating Dieffenbachia Maculata 'Tropical Tiki'

This Dieffenbachia has long unstable stem - thin at the bottom and becoming thicker at the top. I decided to cut it and propagate.
If be honest - I tried to propagate also a middle part of this cutting (bare stem), but it didn't survive...
