Nice project! Which wood can I use to make something like this? I mean it should be a hard one, shouldn't it?
@alangeorgebarstow5 жыл бұрын
BrechtsErbe, hard woods are actually the best for chopping boards. I would suggest Beech or Oak; both are easy to cut with a scroll saw. Treat them afterwards with a food-grade oil and you'll have a long-lasting board.

Beautiful woodworking & very creative! Nice job. However, I was wondering if you had any problems with the wood warping over time? Steve
@danielmiskoidea8 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, I haven't noticed any problems yet, but it's only a month since i build it.

Inlays turn out horrible if you cut out everything separately. Glue the inlay layer (here light colour) on top of the darker colour board, set your saw to an 2-3 degree angle and cut out both at the same time. Then it will fit exactly.

Ullimately even though that is a way better Idea, (i have done it) He still did an amazing job at making this work
@Ullimately7 жыл бұрын
it works somehow but you will always somewhere have that small gap to fill. Put one colour on top of the other and cut it at a 3 degree angle and the result is EXACT and gap free.
@Ullimately7 жыл бұрын
also, try something finer like letter inlay and you soon find out that cutting both separately "doesnt cut it".

Where you had gaps between the inlay , did you use any filler?
@danielmiskoidea7 жыл бұрын
Dennis Adams I've had a few tiny gaps, light sanding while the glue is still drying solves the problem.
@Ullimately7 жыл бұрын
gaps can be avoided by putting the saw at an 2-3 degree angle and cut out both colours at the same time.
