I nearly jumped for joy when I saw this notification! Your kindness comes through. I'm having a hard time finding much kindness in my immediate surroundings so this brought me peace today. Those amygdaloidal basalts were something else. This makes me want to go back to where I can find them here on the OR coast and not overlook them :)

@@TinaHyde - I did! I live south of Lincoln City, which was evacuated by the Echo Mtn. Complex. We dealt with smoke for about 10 days but that's past now. Just hoping the recent rain will be enough to tide us over through some Indian summer and drying winds next week. 🤞

Great video of your rock cutting skills. I was excited to see you have a new baby to take care of. Recently a tree fell on my house during a storm and crushed my rock tumbler that was outside running two batches rocks. Thankfully the insurance is paying for my tumbler I have a new one on the way. And my house is still livable just need a new roof and a new bathroom and a lot of inside repairs. Can't wait to see your polished Rock video

I'm late! Better than never though. You should get yourself a little tabletop belt sander and tabletop drill press and shape some of them smaller cut stones into pendants to sell. I picked up a new small sander for 40 bucks and a drill press for 50 bucks. 10 pendants at 10 bucks each can quickly pay off at mineral shows and shops. 👍

I have a few galaxy stones and always just kept the as an example to show the kids how the agates form in hollows. Didn’t realise how pretty they look cut - taking mine to Gem Club and cutting them now!

Wow! Fantastic cuts!!! The first two agates looked like elegant stairs! You had the agate with the black blobs on it, on the table...did you give it a cut?? Such a cool stone!! And those galaxy stones, thanks Agate Dad, are crazy inside!! So funky and colourful!! I use my table saw the same backwards way that you do... I am alot less dirt spattered when I’m finished lol. Although it is part of the fun!!!

I find the basalt rocks with green agate in them here in Montana I have cut a few small one they are really cool and I do like the term galaxy stone🍻

Giday Jess, some nice looking pieces on the saw there. That amygdaloidal basalt with the blue green chalcedony should look very interesting when finished. Found some similar material in Christmas Creek, tried to chase some seams of blue in a boulder, but most of it was too thin or broke apart during removal, though I have some pieces with lots of blue cells through it. Some of those fine lined agates are very interesting and should make some nice display pieces with a bit of back lighting. I'll just have to wait for the next video to see how they look. Awesome cuts. I bought a couple of double geodes when I went to my friends place. My son has a tile saw so I'm going to try to cut them. I bought them for my grandson....... also theres a rock and gem show next month I'm going to. Can hardly wait. Thanks for sharing. Love your doggo. So cute.

I've had that same problem where the nodules fall out of the basalt like that. I was kinda bummed for you there. Such a pretty little greenish marble! I love amygdaloidal basalt! Such a cool bunch of the little agates inside, and if your lucky on the outside too. Just like your little green buddy there. I find so many on the central coast here in Oregon. My most favorite hobby, rockhounding 🥰 ROCK ON Jesse!

Wow, Rookie, I love your cuts!! The "Galaxy Agates" I have always called "birthing rocks" cuz they give birth to tiny agates! Lol! That carnelian waterlevel at 1:59 is stunning! With the exception of the basalt, the cut stones and other whole nodules I would love to see tumbled. I have been using a saw just like yours, but I just purchased the High-Tech 10" slab and trim saw. With the low rpm, a much better cut and blade wear. Recommended for sure!

I love the basalt galaxy stone. It's my favorite rock when it's stabbed like this. Just beautiful. I tried breaking up this big piece green jasper today so I could tumble it, didn't go well, too hard for me to break with a hammer and chisel. Saw time!!!

Enjoyed your techniques for cutting Agates. I have been trying a tile saw and I always ended up ruining whatever shirt I was wearing with water and staining from the stones. So not a fashion statement but I wear a garbage bag cut out spots for the head and arms and good to go. No staining, and it keeps me from getting all wet.

The whole Galaxy Stone thing is marvelous. I have passed over those rocks on our beaches and hadn't thought to check out the polished or sliced version. I'm sure every location has a different flavor/color of agate inside. I think ours have zeolite too, actually. I'm definitely polishing one up, now to see what happens. Thanks for another great video.

Chalcedony is amazing, i really knew nothing of it til i watched your videos. Where i live there is only calcite on the random limestone roads. One day out looking for some at the japanese gardens in my area i decided to check out the train tracks that are beside the trails. Boom i find some bubblegum agate, same as fairburn agates here in america. I found some real beauties along with pink white and yellow chalcedony and some jasper that looks similar to bumblebee. I love learning new things, also i found star blue quartz pyrite a few obsidian and 2 jasper geodes full of sugar crystals. Love this channel

Out here In southeastern Massachusetts all I find is chalcedony witch is cool. I haven’t found any agates yet and I’m heading to this new spot that was raked over by the ice sheet 12,000 years ago . I been doing my research and I’m taking the family with me haha enjoy brother and another cool video thanks bro

I'm obsessed with these cutting videos. I've only just started trying to slice my rocks. I'm still very bad at it but these videos make me want to keep trying and get better. I NEED TO SEE WHAT'S INSIDE ALL THE ROCKS! How do you know where to cut?

I’m so glad these videos make you want to cut more. To be honest the more you do the more you get the back for it. You can shine a flashlight through the agates to see if you can see a difference inside and then cut through that. Otherwise I just really look at the rock and imagine what would be happening on the inside between the two sides that I can see. And hope for the best haha! Windowing a rock is always a good way to see what’s happening inside as well. That’s where you just cut a very small slice off an end and see what gets exposed. Great stuff as always brotha! I've been learning a lot about agates lately. When you say "it's lava, then magic, then agates! That's how they're formed!" You're not far off! 'We' still don't know the complete mechanisms through which agates form! Two major points of contention are between those who subscribe to 'aggregation', wherein the agate is formed by repeated influxes of silicic acid, as opposed to those who subscribe to 'differentiation', wherein the vesicle is filled once with a silicic acid and then chemical processes dictate the internal structures. Indeed both sides have substantial merit, and evidence to support them. The other point of contention is between those who believe the structures that seem to be areas of fluid movement within the vesicles are either infiltration channels or exit channels (ie are they the 'jets' of silicic acid intruding during aggregation, or are they points where material has been ejected due to an increase in vesicle pressure due to chemical differentiation?). The knobbly one with black on it that I swear I saw you pick up in this video but now can't find the timestamp for, that one looked like it had several of these features. They form around breaches in the husk. I think you could have a vesicular porphyry. I'm fairly certain I've seen it around here..... The waterline is technically called 'gravitationally banded agate', or onyx. You have some wonderful examples here of how sometimes the bands are concentric in the top portion of the vesicle, but then gravitationally banded on the bottom. Apparently it usually goes to the bottom of the vesicle, but I have one in my collection where the waterline is in the middle, almost entirely suspended in concentric banding. There's actually no blue agates! I know, I know, if anyone has actually made it this far in to this comment, you'll be screaming "We just saw them! And what about Ellensburg?!", but the truth is, almost all 'blue' agates are actually a greyish - greyish-yellow when you pass light through from behind them. They appear blue for similar reasons the sky does. There are tiny bubbles that scatter reflected light, but are transparent-translucent to parallel rays. True-blue agates are extremely rare, if they exist at all. I'm not saying they don't, but I don't know of any for sure.

Okay... I have to go to work but I read what you said about blue agates and you are correct and I'm not going to completely argue with you but... There are true blue agates. The Ellensburg agates can be found but are rare. Most people think they found one but did not. If it glows gray or brownish yellow ish... Then it is not a true blue. But if it glows with a pink hue then it is true. The president of my club would be the first to tell you this and has many that he's collected over 50 years and has shown me the actual difference in person. But they are super super rare to find. And most of the land you find it on is all private

@@MarlainaAtkins Yeah I wasn't sure about the Ellensurgs. I've heard Nick Zentner talk about them, but to be fair he isn't a super-fine-details guy, just a fantastic teacher! What you're saying makes sense if the reason for the colour is absorbtion, because then when you pass light through it you should absorb the blue, leaving red shades. That means it's different from they grey-blues because their colour is a result of the Tyndall effect. Thanks M!

I love that little marble that came out of the rock. I would put it in a ring possibly, but would want to keep it spherical somehow. Awesome to keep the things somewhat in their natural state, imo, but I think it looks great on its own separate from the rock.
