What the smallest lettering you can do with the wood before it breaks? Like 1 inch letters? or even smaller
@TheKingstonHome Жыл бұрын
I am so sorry!! For some reason I am not getting notifications! :( Cricut recommends no thinner than the width of a pencil. I have cut letters that thin with no issue, but if you were going to cut small letters some parts of it would be thinner than that...if that makes sense? So for example you'd be able to cut smaller "block" letters than you would like "typewriter" letters.

I'm so sorry Liz for some reason I didn't get this notification! There are only a few different types of blades - the knife blade is for very thick objects and then the blade that comes with the machine does almost every other type of material. The difference is in the setting when you are the software (Design Space). You select what type of material you are cutting and the machine adjusts before it starts cutting. Hope that helps!

Can I use this for 3.2 mm ya 5mm MDF wooden sheets
@TheKingstonHome3 жыл бұрын
it cuts up to 3/32" so that would be 2.38 mm - sounds like your MDF would be too thick.

Can I use card board
@TheKingstonHome3 жыл бұрын
corrugated cardboard? It would depend on the thickness. The Maker cuts up to 3/16" thickness.

Can you tell me if this machine can cut through industrial carton? Like the one of regular boxes?
@TheKingstonHome5 жыл бұрын
The Maker can cut 2.0mm dense chipboard, balsa/bass wood, leather, etc so I am guessing it would cut regular cardboard as well? I have never tried it though - sorry I can't give you more info!

I found some craft plywood at hobby lobby thats 1/18. Is that something that you can use on the cricut maker?
@TheKingstonHome4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! The Maker says it cuts up to 3/32nds of an inch - so 1/18 should work!!

Can you use the knife blade with the Explore Air to cut chipboard?
@TheKingstonHome6 жыл бұрын
Hi Melva! The Knife Blade is made just for the Maker...the Explore machines don't have enough force to cut the thicker materials.

What setting would you recommend for photo mat? Or do you think this setting would work for it?
@TheKingstonHome4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis! I'm so sorry for the delay - for some reason I didn't get notification of your comment. I think the chipboard setting might work...how thick is the photo mat? The Maker cuts 3/32nds of an inch if that helps? The only issue would be that the Maker doesn't cut at an angle like a mat cutter would. Hope that helps!

OMG I need to invest in that machine. So much potential. Been trying to cut out cardboard symbols with an exacto and it just kills my hand. Also I can never really trace the symbols quite right.

It really is a cool machine and I'm with you. So much better than an exacto knife!!

I bet you could - sometimes Design Space is finicky so I didn't want to chance it. :)

Thank you so much for sharing! I have fallen in love with chipboard trying to figure out how to creat my own! Then I stumbled across this. Do you know if I can use the kinfe blade with the older cricut?
@TheKingstonHome4 жыл бұрын
Hi Venita! The Knife Blade was made specifically for the Maker so will not work in the older machines. However - if you want to cut thinner chipboard (like cereal box thickness) you can use the deep cut blade that was made for the Explore! Hope that helps!
