What the smallest lettering you can do with the wood before it breaks? Like 1 inch letters? or even smaller
@TheKingstonHome
@TheKingstonHome Жыл бұрын
I am so sorry!! For some reason I am not getting notifications! :( Cricut recommends no thinner than the width of a pencil. I have cut letters that thin with no issue, but if you were going to cut small letters some parts of it would be thinner than that...if that makes sense? So for example you'd be able to cut smaller "block" letters than you would like "typewriter" letters.

How long do the blades last cutting chipboard?
@TheKingstonHome

I'd say 3-6 months depending on how much chipboard you cut (it can also be used to cut other things) - but the blade goes on sale fairly often. In fact it is on sale on both cricut and Amazon right now! :) amzn.to/33O6UDy

@TheKingstonHome

Unfortunately you can't cut Cricut chipboard with the Explore 2 because the knife blade only works in the Maker. You CAN cut thin "cardboard" (like the thickness of cereal boxes) on your Explore 2 though - look for the material choices when you are ready to cut and that will give you your settings.

@TheKingstonHome
@TheKingstonHome 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Viridiana - I would just attach it to whatever surface I was going to put it on...so for example if this was going on a wood sign I'd just adhere it right to the sign. If you are talking about something "free standing" like a cake topper you'd want to adjust the font in Design Space before you cut so the circle on the i was "welded" to the rest of the i - if that makes sense?

@TheKingstonHome
@TheKingstonHome 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jessica! The 11" is really the biggest size - but depending on what you are going to do with the chipboard you could adhere them to each other and cut bigger images in "parts" - if that makes sense? The general term is "off the mat" - here is a video that talks about doing it for vinyl but you could also do it for chipboard. It would just be tricky to adhere the pieces together! :) heyletsmakestuff.com/cricut-project-bigger-than-the-mat/

Hello, good afternoon, I wanted to ask you if you could take a large image in the woods that you are using but the image in 5 or 6 woods? that cut a part of the selected drawing in each wood? thank you very much
@TheKingstonHome

Hi! Do you mean (for example) cutting an image that is 20"x30" and just cutting it in 10" sections then adhering it together? If I am understanding correctly - yes you can! :)

Hi VeenaM! I've never had an issue with gunk on my blade, but if you get some on it undu or goo-gone would work great. I use that on my scissors all the time! Hope that helps!

Hi Scarlet! Sorry for the delay...for some reason I'm not getting my YT notifications! Are you checking on the project as it cuts? Sometimes when I'm doing something that isn't super intricate it gets done in MUCH fewer cuts than the machine says it needs, so I just stop the cut. If yours is done cutting early it may just be cutting in to the mat! Hope that helps!

I just got my Cricut Maker today and did my first chipboard project. I used the Cricut Heavy Chipboard and the setting that is in Design Space. It cut my project beautifully, but it also cut all the way through to my mat. I noticed in your video you had different chipboard settings. I don't have these settings in my material options. Were these custom settings you made?
@TheKingstonHome
@TheKingstonHome 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Shawna! Cricut has updated their software since I originally did this so the settings look a little different...but I've found with each project that depending how intricate it is sometimes it doesn't need ALL the cuts. So I'll check it about halfway through then keep an eye on it as it gets closer to the end. Hope that helps!

I have a question but it is no regarding the chipboard. I just bought a new cricut maker and want to make a big wood sign that says home. How can I get the fonts to be big? Also I do have a 12 by 24 mat, do i need to buy vinyl as big as my mat?
@TheKingstonHome
@TheKingstonHome 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Lucy! You will need a 12x24 mat to do big words. If you are using vinyl you can make the letters up to about 11 1/2" tall - it doesn't do full 12" because it needs a little room on each edge.

Question: so you use a certain blade or knife depending on the materials You’re using? For instance knife for fabric, knife for acetate sheets something like that?
@TheKingstonHome
@TheKingstonHome 4 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry Liz for some reason I didn't get this notification! There are only a few different types of blades - the knife blade is for very thick objects and then the blade that comes with the machine does almost every other type of material. The difference is in the setting when you are the software (Design Space). You select what type of material you are cutting and the machine adjusts before it starts cutting. Hope that helps!

it cuts up to 3/32" so that would be 2.38 mm - sounds like your MDF would be too thick.

Hi Dennis! I'm so sorry for the delay - for some reason I didn't get notification of your comment. I think the chipboard setting might work...how thick is the photo mat? The Maker cuts 3/32nds of an inch if that helps? The only issue would be that the Maker doesn't cut at an angle like a mat cutter would. Hope that helps!
