Idk why but I love the look of cutting hair straight across. A lot of people want to get it thinned out at the tips so it doesn't look freshly cut. But I think it looks so thick and healthy when it's cut straight across and not thinned out and the tips. With short hair I can understand doing it so you don't look like Lord Farquaad or something 😂 but your hair looked soooo much healthier after you cut it and it's so nice that you decided to donate your hair😀

A friend of mine from school was home visiting her family from California three years ago and she said she was going to cut her hair from don past her hips to her shoulders as it was too much. Well she was visiting my farm with her mother and my best friend for lunch. My best friend asked hubby for a trim, as she regularly has him trim her hair for her. As he finished taking a couple inches off as she asked, my friend’s mother said that she wanted her hair trimmed too. My friend said to her mother that she thought they were going together to get her hair cut, and she said that they are together. Well my friend said that she was ready to cut her hair. So hubby sectioned it into five ponytails, one on each side, three in the back and we braided them. He handed her his shears and she cut the first one, she handed them to her mother who cut one, I cut one, my best friend cut one and then she took the shears and cut off the last one. My husband then sectioned, pinned up her hair, let it down in increments to trim each layer and shape her hair. It was a big change, she had not had her hair that short since she was a child. So I can imagine how it was emotional for you. If you decide in a few years to do it again, I suggest that you do at least five ponytails so it is less uneven in the back.

That must have been so cool to see your friend go through such a big change, I bet she looked amazing!! Thank you for the suggestion about the ponytails, I will be sure to keep that in mind next time I donate!

It was a great experience. My husband did not want to cut her long hair off. So he had her, her mother, me and my best friend do the deed , as he called it. She wanted her mother there when her hair was cut, and the fact that she cut two and her mother and two friends were there and participated, it was special for her for the big change. She was in control of the change, not someone else.mMy husband is really great at cutting hair, so when she saw the final result, she had no regrets. She posted before and after pics on Facebook. She got a lot of reactions of surprise that she had cut her hair, and compliments on how nice her hair looked afterwards. Her husband had never seen her without really long hair, but he liked how it looked. He was concerned that the salon would cut it too short and she would be unhappy with it.

We went through school together, since 1st grade. I always remember that she had long hair, and she grew really long in high school. So cutting off two foot long braids was a big deal for her. The fact that she cut the first one, and her mother had cut one (which she kept) I think was special for her. My husband had her confirm multiple times that she wanted it cut, there was no pressure on her to do it. Plus she committed to it by cutting the first and last braids off. Plus, it wasn’t like she had to go get a mess fixed afterwards. She knew he had been cutting my hair for years, plus she had watched our friend and her mother both have him cut their hair before she took a seat to have hers cut.
