When using acid, please make sure to rinse well and neutralise with bicarb or washing soda, as the acid can stay in cracks and pits. It is also a good idea to have some handy when working with acids, to neutralise accidental spills.

Acid is very handy. Probably didn't have to go full gonzo with Muriatic. Citric would have done the job, step above that phosphoric. Muriatic is my last resort generally reserved for mill scale removal. When using Muriatic do not use without fume extraction. The fumes will attack any metal it comes in contact with, including electrical outlets, plumbing. You know the stuff you can't see.

@@MattPanther91 actually, that's correct. sometimes you have to saw almost or all the way going up or vice versa, but on a felled tree with many branches on the bottom side you're most always better off to saw up a bit first. There are some occasions where that doesn't really work, but 9 times out of ten or so it does.

This is the truth. You can pinch the bar and get stuck fumbling around with wedges if you don't do this. Makes you look like a noob when you don't have to. I was a foreskin of a tree service company for 8 years or so. Still do a little tree work on the side, and build/ mod saws for folks. Any mods to the 'ol farm boss??? Open up the muffler and advance the timing if you haven't already. Free mods that make a hell of a difference with the EPA choking them down. I have a pretty nice arsenal myself. Mostly Stihl, but I love my big bore 372xp, and my 346xp. I'm not one of these guys that is partial to any brand. Each company has their models that perform their duty in a particular situation. Hell, you can even go to town modding an Echo and do some pretty good cutting with it. The CS490 is a cheap ass saw, and it has a mag case, is quite light and they start super easy. Like I said, they all have their place depending on the work you're doing.

So was my dad's! 20+ year's old with cheap shingles. He and I put it on when I was in my mid 20's. A hail storm came through and knocked holes in the plastic gutters I had just installed that spring. He just wanted his gutters replaced but the nice lady agent wrote up the gutters and added the roof as well! I had an old 98 Bronco over there sitting in the driveway. It got hit pretty hard. She asked my dad if the truck was his and he told her it was my truck. Asked him who insured it and he knew it was her company. She did a walk around noting all the damage. My dad called me and told me what was going on so I talked to the agent on the phone giving her my insurance info. A few weeks later I got a check for over a grand for a truck that barely ran ( bad speed sensor and Ford has it incorporated into the speedometer cluster so it costs a small fortune to repair!) I only paid a grand for it in the first place! I hope you came out better than whole on that affair like I did!!

During the 1980's in Irlam, Greater Manchester we had even bigger hailstones than that. Probably about 50% larger. My next door neighbours car, a Volvo saloon, suffered badly as did my neighbour on the other side's Datsun. They both required extensive work and ended up with vinyl roofs. My old Vauxhall Viva showed not the slightest dent and no broken glass. Go figure!

@@DieselCreek I got some from e-bay called Red Kote. The gas tank on my generator got rusty inside. I poured what i thought was enough Red Kote in the tank and tilted the tank in various positions to get a thin coat all over the bottom and sides. Fortunately I guessed the right amount. Then let it set for about one week with the cover off to make sure it was dry. Not sure but I might have used a hair dryer on the outside of the tank. Don't get it too hot. I directed a fan to blow in it to get rid of the fumes. The last time I checked it was last summer and it still looked good. Take out the valve or connector where the hose connects put a plug in so it won't plug the hole. Good idea to coat the plug with Silicone spray before putting it in so the sealer don't stick to the plug.As soon as it begins to set enough so it won't run out and fill the threads take out the plug and make sure the hole is open. It only needs a thin layer. I don't know if it is the best brand because it is the only kind I have used but it seemed to work. If you have some left close the can and save it for using on another tank.

Here the wind blew 45mph with guests up to 75mph for three days and knocked out the power the first time for 12+ hours at 15*F wind chill @ -11*F the second day it was knocked out for about 18 hours same wind same chill. Luckily the snow was glazed on top and didn't drift and blow over the driveway ... like I'm going anywhere - self sequestered. O damn that muriatic acid will take your breath away ... bad juju. Tumble rocks, screws, nuts n bolts in the fuel tank anything but that caustic stuff it works but tumbling would have gotten rid of that scale in the tank. After which a little fuel tank cleaner/sealer works great.. find it at eBay, Amazon or better yet Steinertractor.com they have smaller batches for smaller tanks

I had a bit of a nervous laugh when I saw that last tree being cut down, and the 'cutter' just stood there by that falling tree,...ooohhhh boy! Water pumps,...I guess you did have some water in that prior to start up to keep the shaft seal 'lubricated' and cooled didn't you?? i hope you get your insurance claims on your Jeep and other vehicles taken care of without too much hassel from the Insurers. Yup see you Friday.

As soon as it quits raining here I’ll be shifting my focus to the farm again and hope to get started on it! It wasn’t supposed to rain at all this week on Monday, it’s rained a little every day so far and now shows rain the next 5 days 🤦🏼‍♂️
