That's the best saw I've ever seen, it's just great !

I've never seen anything exactly like this machine. I like the chute into the basement. That's good. The guarding and hydraulic return assist look top-notch. It looks as if you use fairly short pieces of firewood so I think this system lends itself to that application. I think that the advantages would diminish for longer firewood pieces but it works great for your lengths. Great vid!

I looked for "cutting firewood with a rotary saw" and found this. Doubt I can afford to get one of these bad boys just for firewood, but it's sure cool!

Very nicely done! I have the same situation with my window party under ground level - I'm considering something of the kind.

Me too, plz. It looks so very simple, well designed and avoids the massive death dealing lethality of about 90% of the DIY cutters and splitters I've seen demonstrated by soon to be limbless corpses. [ vrt/min = revolutions per minute? 600 mm = diameter or radius of the blade' plz? Number of teeth or points per 25 mm ?] Kind regards

In the U.S.A firewood is old by what is called a cord, a well stacked woodpile 4 feet (122 cm) high, 8 feet (244 cm) long, and 4 feet (122 cm) deep; or any other arrangement of linear measurements that yields the same volume, 128 cubic feet, 3.62456 cubic meters. The stack is usually sold consisting of 16 inch(41cm) long pieces, split to a comfortable size to grab with your hand, 10cm-15cm. I get all my wood free
@vinceamato120111 жыл бұрын
Nice! I bet you have an auto-stacker in the basement too.

How did you split those long lengths of wood ? Do you have a machine to do that?
@stevenhatfield19615 жыл бұрын
You can sometimes pick up heavy duty versions used. Once somewhat common to be powered by tractor pto.

Is this in Europe? I read that firewood is cut in meter lengths there, then split and cut as you are doing. But, why meter lengths?

meters = one of the international units of 'length' - been around since the time of Napoleon. Part of a system of metric units - based on 10. The meter is used in lots of countries, unlike the 'foot' which is a rather quaint unit found only in USA and some of its satellite countries. But since it's reckoned that only 20% of USA citizens have a passport, don't worry - you will probably never have to confront the complexity of moving from a system based on 12 to one based on 10.

My hat is off to you for a well thought out idea. This is obviously purposely built and the questionable part is the basement for wood storage, what about bug problems being brought in with the wood?
@sebazajla12 жыл бұрын
@ronnieinbama The bugs have never been problems ... basement is dry as pepper, wood is almost dry before they go to the basement ...

Yes, it's Central Europe. Meter is a standard unit in Continental Europe. You buy them in meters. For example, give me 5 meters of wood. How do you buy them? Do you use some other measurement like feet, or something else?

I'd say it is far safer than using a chainsaw, there's not much that can go wrong with this kind of circular saw set up, provided you use some basic common sense. Chainsaws on the other hand can be quite unpredicatable beasts, I know this from experience.

can you give me the schematics to make circulars? ? pliss :)
