Cutting HOLES in my Forester: Hoodscoop 101

Today I cut my hood for my 2005 WRX STI Hoodscoop and air splitter.

Hate to say it but, water will now leak on top of your engine. You'll need to replace the knock sensor, and possibly the coil pack as heavy rain will cause misfires. Happened to me, I have a real XT hood. Waiting on a hood delete plate to come in now

Yo with up neighbor. This is PDX DOLPH just wonna give U and Ur Pops props on such a good and clean job... I'm impressed... I found a 2004 forester hood w/ scoop but that won't swap out with my 02 forester. So now I got to cutcha I got some OG friends that will help me... But first I'm cutting my 02 lincoln ls V8 for a scoop fitting... I know SIC HUH?!!!... Well neighbor keep up the good work and thanx so much for gaming me up

I got a 2001 automatic n/a, I'm putting a 3" Y pvc pipe on intake with 2 cone filters where the scoop is, adding just the plastic scoop..im blown away that I cant find an aftermarket scoop that is the same. Subaru must have a patent on the shape. 100 bucks used. 😵 but has to be the real deal

They make reps but they gonna be about the same price as the real hood scoops. Don’t support reps. Also that’s a horrible idea water will get into your intake tract

Yeah that was my dilemma! I wanted a factory hood but they’re very rare and expensive. But most hoods I’ve seen cut look really bad

@@solomonsmucker2870 same here. I can't see myself paying the same amount for the turbo hood as I paid for the entire EJ205! You're in Eastern WA, right? Maybe you could make the trip up to Calgary. @ForesterParts on IG has a lot of JDM SF parts. My parents are in Spokane, so I have considered making the drive, but I'd still have to figure out how to get the hood to DC with me. Your hood turned out so well, that I am just going to cut my hood.

I’ve never heard of the ej225… I believe you are talking about a 255? Accessory’s have to be used with turbo ECUS and only USDM.

I have an 01 2.5RS, I took the hood scoop blocker off as soon as I got it home 21 years ago. I've never had a problem related to that.

I mean I never had any problems with my hood, I didn’t cut too much bracing out. But cut at your own caution lol I’m not liable 😂 should be fine though.

You could but in my opinion it would look meh, the point of cutting it is to make it functional but also flush.
