You are such a sweetie. . I enjoy listening to your voice because it reminds me of my daughter under age 10. She's 19 now and busy with college so I don't get to listen to her talk often

Have you thought about brushing your locs to help remove lint?

I wrote about reading in my journal earlier… “Reading A book is an experience better than holding an electronic device or watching a movie. Each chapter has its own scene and it’s at the readers discretion and interpretation at the time of the reading to get what they need.”

So due to a lot of things, I had a couple around my perimeter in the front that were just hanging for dear life. The new growth was there but they had thinned out. So I crocheted them by gathering some length of the weaker portion towards the root and crocheted that with the thicker portion❤ so I lost some length…but not the look of that makes sense

That’s a good idea!

This is one of the many reason I’ve decided to cut my locs out. I’m just over it. My perimeter is mostly new growth and stringy, thinning locs.

Lint floats in the air, so it doesn't matter that you tie up your hair at night. For anybody who disagrees, I always tell them to shake their hair on a sunny day while sitting in a car. It will show the truth. Also, the back locs come in contact with clothing the most. Therefore, they will get the most lint even if the clothing isn't very fuzzy.

I agree but I’ll add that the oils may be attracting more than usual. But yeah, I don’t use oils, mostly have my hair up, almost always have a bonnet on at home and I still struggle with lint in a few of my back locs, but it’s mostly cuz of coming into contact with clothing more often than the rest. It had bothered me so much I took them down and reestablished them and the new ones still got lint in them 6 months later 😭. P.s I dyed it before taking them down. It helped for a little while but then the color eventually faded. Coloring it helps only if you plan to keep on doing it.

You are absolutely right. I shake my hair in the car and watch the dandruff and dust fly.

@@TyKaraAnn Oil attracts more lint and buildup. I don’t use it anymore; just use light grease in my scalp and bring it down on my strands. For moisture, washing more frequently will help.

Disappearing Acts is a really good read. I read it back in 1990. Franklin is something else.

I've always been a book worm. I think reading is such a great way to relax your mind. I think a warm brown hair color would look pretty on you but I also think the color you have now is perfect. It's no fun damaging your hair!

Thanks! I’d love to dye it brown but I’m so scared of damaging my hair😬

Hi @TyKara girrrrl, I have been binge watching you videos all day! so happy I found your channel, i think you are the only person I found so far that pretty much experience the same thing I did! I can sooo relate, I did the same thing as you, neglected to consistently retighten my entire hair for a maybe a year or more, had around 6 -7 inches of growth!! probably worst than yours. I had to do a lot of lock repairs and reattachments. I was doing my masters degree at the time, whiiile working full time at a very demanding job, so I was neglecting my hair a lot during that time. I just did not have the time while I had assignments, exams and work. I did most of the repair myself, trust, me it wasn't easy! This was like 4 years ago. I would like to think my hair is better now, but still living with some remnants from that time, and some locks that are thinner than others. Thanks so much for sharing your journey, appreciate it!

There’s this black comb (yes I said comb) at Sally’s. It has a lot of teeth in the comb and it feels like a very stiff “white girl brush” (sorry I’m trying my best to describe this.) ANYWAYS. I found it to be a good tool for brushing/combing lint out of my locs. 🤷♀️💜
