This had many layers but was not cluttered. It worked because it used a minimum of colors with only one bright one and all repeated throughout. The images of the people as the backdrop were similar also. Everything was cohesive. Although the layers were many the minimum of colors were a perfect blend and an example that at times less is more and gives a very pleasing easy on the eyes effect. Nothing jumped out but blended beautifully. In my opinion anyway. Loved this. Vicki

Oh Tina, my heart was thumping when you were cutting up that BEAUTIFUL masterboard, but, as usual, you just knew where to cut and the result is FABULOUS. I watched a lady who made a master board then went to a print shop had several copies made in different sizes and kept the original in one piece.

Which is why they are called "Master" boards! You keep the originals as "master" and only use the copies!

That is what I do with mine too. I take a picture with my scanner app on my phone and then print out the copies to use for various things. It works out well...

This video series was a really interesting follow. At every layer you put down, I thought, "Now that's perfect!" LOL! Really, it's absolutely beautiful -- the roses add that little pop to the overall composition. Gorgeous!

I am going to embark on a quilting journal soon. I have inspiration from you Tina, also Joie and Gayle on how to have "something" become "something else". My current process is pretty much thinking of a few ideas and gathering supplies. I did tear a few pages out of old quilting magazines and I am definitely using those.

Oh my I was so worried when you cut your master board it was absolutely beautiful as a whole but once you started with the black and bling the pictures where even more beautiful . It's such a beautiful collage. I make masterboards and scan them - I even scan them at various stages of completion sometimes (background, then with stencils, then with additions etc). Then I use the original to make a journal cover as masterboards usually end up a bit thicker. It's the craft that just keeps on giving! :-)

I purchased them a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t been doing much since I was in that accident. I printed out the beautiful roses that you used on your gorgeous master board. I printed out Melrose, apricot pages, birds( the lovely ones!) of course, everything you create are so so beautiful! I printed out 2-3 other kits, and I can’t wait to pour through them again! Hi Tina! I love all the wonderful things you are doing with collage master boards. I have a challenge for you, if I might be so bold! My favorite thing to do with master boards is to collage many different smaller pieces (think maybe 2.5 inches squarish) of book pages and music paper with different “shades” of that beautiful old paper. Then, mod podge paper napkins over the top. I especially love using more neutral or warm tone patterns. I cut them for tags and journal cards and sew around the edges. I find they don’t need tons of decorating - I use ribbon, lace, buttons, maybe stamps. Have fun!

Tina, these are gorgeous! They look like you planned the master board in order to have such beautiful pieces!!!! I can’t believe you can hot glue the bling without burning your fingers!!! That is pretty amazing! 😮 I would definitely burn myself! I have to run a line of hot glue on my project and then put the bling down!

Oh man, the first cut is always the hardest, then it just flows. I prefer to use the original, rather than copies because i like the affect of the three dimensions as well as all of the different textures.

When the sides are stitched the pieces look like pieces of quilted fabric! Looking forward to seeing the blue version. I love blue as much as I love pink! 😊💕💕 I’m watching how you attach the lace and I wonder if it would be possible to stitch them into ruffles which would make attaching them much easier! So a range of sizes of lace and ruffle sizes in the on the table container? I’m going to try that out. I will probably add some beading just cos!
