I was so worried you was going to accidentally knock the bottle down messing with the book and box door 😂 Great review

The Iron Maiden song 'The number of the beast' is based on the poem. It was thought to be satanic and blasphemous, especially in South American countries, but it was just based on a poem that the guys liked. Great song if you're a rock fan and cheers for another great review.

I'm not experienced with drinking Cutty Sark, but I'm glad they made this one. Pretty much throughout my latter years of primary school education when Burns night was approaching we would be rereading Tam O Shanter which at that age was never an easy read as the Scots language as written in this poem and other Robert Burns work had long come out of use. Since then any time I saw Cutty Sark on a shelf I'd think of Tam O'Shanter. I was never much into poetry, especially those that involved such hard work with the language, but its a great story - a drunk farmer riding home late from the pub one night, getting chased by witches wearing a 'cutty sark' and the devil himself, before getting home to his long suffering wife. In an industry that perhaps uses stories for marketing all too easily this is a good one, especially for this brand.

I discovered Tam O'Shanter when it first came out and fell in love. It's easily in my top 10. I always keep a bottle on the shelf (and a couple in reserve) to pour for friends to show what a blended whisky can achieve. Glad you got to experience it! Slàinte.

Irrelevant to your great story, The Tam O Shanter is also a Scottish Pub Restaurant on Los Feliz Blvd near where I live. The Tam was made famous by Walt Disney, who had lunch there every day with his Imagineers. They also have a huge collection of Whiskey and Bourbons and some are bottled especially for The Tam. One famous is the “Buffalo Trace Bottled For The Tam”. They advertise that you can purchase a bottle of the “Tam O Shanter” booze, but I’ve never been able to buy one.

Cutty Sark means mini skirt in Scots! Tam, drunk, gets carried away looking at a beautiful young dead girl, dancing in a ruined church among other less lovely dead. She wears a short shroud and her flashing limbs has him shout 'come away Cutty Sark' then has to run as the ghosts chase him.

Totally off topic, Daniel, but I didn’t get a chance to ask Emma when I was around at the Ball tasting. Thought it could be a cool vault video having her on for if it’s cool to discuss. But I was wondering her experience and thoughts on what it has been like with Balcones being acquired by Diageo. Positives and the negatives of an employee. Super curious, wish I had asked in person but I had stars in my eyes being in the vault for the first time. 😂

Who ensures the whiskey is truly no younger than the age on the bottle? Seems like that would be easy to get around and cheat a bit. I assume no one is overseeing that the age is accurate and true across the industry.
