the brassy nature of How Insensitive (1:11:17) is a stark contrast to the really stringy and flute heavy cover from the muzak tapes

Do you think it was selected because the timbre of brass instruments translated better over the limited sonic range of telephone ear pieces; whereas, larger speaker systems in buildings could produce the string orchestrations better?
@The4MusketeersYT2 жыл бұрын
@@totallyfrozen that may have been the real reason behind it but muzak at least claimed it has to do with the type of work being done (fairly certain now that it’s actually because of the speakers)

Why did you take down that WPDH aircheck from the 1970’s? Is it due to copyright issues or something? If you have a WPDH aircheck that you took down, you should put it on either Internet Archive or something.
@CV2200A2 жыл бұрын
80 to 90% of the songs on that video had Copyright that blocked anyone from viewing. I am sure the music can be found elsewhere on You Tube. I may convert it to a DJ aircheck with little or no songs. It takes time to do the editing. Often there are copyright songs that they allow which the Copyright holder gets paid from ads that interrupt the video. But most of the songs were blocked.

Performer sounds like Horst Jankowski but what song?
@rr-vg6yh2 жыл бұрын
@@CV2200A The resemblance to Jankowski is obvious, but it's not him. As I mentioned above, in fact the performer of the requested song is: Jürgen Hermann und das Große Tanzstreichorchester des Deutschlandsenders. Song title is: Peterchens Mondfahrt The recording was released on the LP "Jürgen Hermann & das Große Tanzstreichorchester des Deutschlandsenders" in 1968. You can listen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g52QZWZ5qaqsaLs#t=3m33s Who played the solo piano is not mentioned on the cover album, but it is possible it was the pianist Georg Plathe, who also composed this song.

If I may ask, wasn't this a much longer recording?
@CV2200A Жыл бұрын
I recorded it to a C120 cassette which holds 2 hours total. So there was only room on that cassette for the 2 hours presented here. There was probably some music missing between side A and side B of the tape, especially if I recorded it on 2 separate days. A 3M Cantata 700 player holds 24 hours but back then I had no intention to record that long. Besides, I had no idea at the time that it was coming from a 24 hour tape nor did I not know when to start recording to catch the beginning of the Cantata tape. Just a random start. The link in my description above has the full 24 hour Cantata tape that someone else put up.

Is there a list of the songs? It would be nice to fill in my list with the names.
@leejenwin19372 жыл бұрын
@@CV2200A 3M never supplied song lists for their BGM tapes (whilst a convenient omission for them at the time, a frustrating one for collectors, enthusiasts and archivists). Large numbers of cover versions seemed to have been commissioned for 3M using groups or orchestras of session musicians, whilst a fair proportion of the content comes from production music libraries where tracks were selected that blend in well with the theme of the tape. Another contributor was the ubiquitous "101 Strings Orchestra" which, although not used in this Contempo tape, provided covers of Simon & Garfunkel songs and others of that ilk. If you were to timestamp the video or provide a timestamped comment (for ease of reference) I'd be happy to fill in those tracks I have been able to identify, although it's not a huge number of them!
@The4MusketeersYT2 жыл бұрын
@@leejenwin1937 3M is probably worse than the Muzak Corporation with that stuff lmao. at least some muzak things had a signature piece to start or maybe sometimes a condensed tracklist, albeit a very hard to read tracklist, but still a tracklist nonetheless
