Lol Bro, I'm Kwaku from Midnight Mormons. Our show is a comedic show not an apologist show. You're upset that we're not taking the subject 100% seriously, and that we have banter..maybe you should have researched what the show is. You can't walk into a Taco Bell and be upset that it's not McDonalds. Being dry and boring and stale with no personality isn't our style. Maybe be a little less of Ebeneezer Scrooge and stop trying to control the conversation about a conversation

Hey Kwaku, Speaking of comedy, Mormonism seems to be a comedy of incoherent theological errors and contradictions. Do you know a Mormon theologian would would be willing to sit down and compare notes with a Catholic theologian? This stuff can be sorted out with logic and reason. A discussion format would be better than a debate format.

There are good reasons that people stay protestant. If you can't understand how, have a few more of them on (Ortlund and Cooper are good options).

Thanks. Just to be clear, Mormons (nice as they may be) are not Christians, so they are not protestants. I hope everyone understands that much. Please put me in touch with these mysterious Ortlund and Cooper characters: cvs.podcast@gmail.com. Thanks and God bless. And please consider being a guest yourself: calendly.com/cvs-podcast

@@cvs-podcast Gavin Ortlund and Jordan B Cooper are both on youtube. They are thoughtful, historically well-informed... protestants (gasp. can that exist??). Anglican Aesthetics is another... David Bercot another (an anabaptist), Matt Whitman... and Steven Nemes would be an interesting interview. Keep up the excellent videos.

I think you misunderstood Kwaku’s point about Odin. He was saying the conflict wasn’t so much the doctrine as it is in the vocabulary we use to describe it. What you call entering the life of the trinity, Latter-Day Saints call deification or attaining godhood (“little g” gods), they’re almost the same idea. If we just said “we become archangels” rather than saying “we become gods” then people wouldn’t have such a problem with the idea, even if the doctrine didn’t change. I think the core of the misunderstanding is the idea that God (big G god) is just like any other god and that he’s just currently the one at the top of the pile. That’s not true. God is the first god and inherently the Most High of the gods, not only that, he’s the God of all the gods. We can never surpass or supplant Him because we are His children, so any progress we make is reflected in his glory by proxy. As we progress, so does He. Think of it like the United States. It’s not like God is California and another god is Nebraska and that the Nebraska god could progress to becoming the biggest of the 50 states and supplant California. Rather, God is King of the entire union. So if Nebraska is my territory and I build up the kingdom of Nebraska, then the entirety of the United States also becomes greater by proxy, because it’s part of the United States. It is possible for modern day Nebraska to become better than the entire United States was back in the year 1900, but not the current United States. Because however great Nebraska is, the United States is defined as that great +49 other kingdoms of other gods.

Those on Midnight Mormons try to be entertaining but are not theologically very deep. I hope that you will have someone on your show who can speak more intelligently about Latter-day Saint doctrine.

@@cvs-podcast I am not currently the right person for this, but I heard you might be talking to Robert Boylan about this and he would be a good choice. I think you will ultimately still disagree with each other. But I hope you will at least gain a deeper appreciation for what Latter-day Saints believe and why Latter-day Saints believe those beliefs glorify rather than minimize God.

Why do you refer to them as "atheists with the 'x' factor"? Even if you don't share the same god, they are clearly theists.
@cvs-podcast2 жыл бұрын
There is only one God, and all of the gods are demons. So that explains the Atheist part. As for the X-factor, that accounts for all of the Christian natural virtues which they clearly embrace and embody to various degrees. It is commendable, but not salvific. I hope you now understand why I said that Mormons are "X-factor Atheists". Let me know if you disagree (or better yet, book a slot on my livestream to chat about this and more: calendly.com/cvs-podcast )
