I see everyday, "who is your Mt. Rushmore", and every body always says Stone Cold, or Rock, or 'Taker. I laugh. At one 5-8 year juncture in Professional Wrestling, no one, and I mean NO ONE, can touch Kurt Angle. Not even in the same BALL PARK !!! Because he had "credibility" nobody else had. And his work, just like Bret & Benoit's, had a "snap" to it. A lot like Arn, from back-in-the-day. I truly believe this. From a guy who saw his 1st wrestling match in 1973, since he debuted, other than POSSIBLY, and I said possibly, MJF, Kurt has been the last Generational Talent. I mean that walked in the door and was good at EVERYTHING from DAY 1 !!! I don't believe we will ever see that again.....

I had one Perc in my life. I went to ER with a toothache. They gave me one and tried to discharge me an hour later. I said, nope, and I need to take a nap and sleep this off and give me Tylenol 3's. I never understood why people got addicted, and I was in the medical field. When I took that pill I did, I would have gave up sex. I have never felt that good in my life.

I feel the same way. It made me put myself in his shoes. Would I be okay with “Perc” replacing my first name after having to relieve daily pain to perform? Probably not. I appreciate the clarity of him never wrestling while high, meaning he was choosing to endure that pain for the fans and his fellow wrestlers.
@AxleTrade11 күн бұрын
Years of the "you suck" chant too. It's the same thing and around the 2010s you can tell he didn't really like it but knew it was also a term of endearment by the fans so he took no issue with the prevalence even during his HOF induction.

The idea that people celebrate the worst times of his life is fucked up and it always has been. I really never got how fans could see how calling him Perc angel was ever a term of endearment. They couldn't have been because WWE wouldn't allow a heavily medicated Angle to wrestle. He can justify it in his head all he wants, but starting and ending the day with pain pills is what drove him to do the crazy stuff he did in TNA. He knew he could moonsault off of a cage, do a flipping seated senton off of a stage, or attempt a 450 for the first and only time in his carer because he knew that the pills were going to be there for him at the end of the day to make things feel fine, and there again in the morning to make sure the pain didn't keep him in bed. If I could trade Perc Angle for a happy, healthy, still insanely talented Kurt Angle who may have erred toward a more safe style, I'd take the happy and healthy Kurt Angle. We shouldn’t change it now since obviously he didn’t care for it before either. A brain dead person would know a person doesn’t like being named by their drug addiction. If we didn’t care about his feelings then why should we care about his feelings now?

Kurt was my hero growing up. The segments he did with Austin and the McMahons are truly legendary. So happy to see guys like him, Matt and Jeff and HBK are still with us after getting clean and sober. Having battled with my own addictions, I've got an even greater respect for the guys who got out clean on the other side. It also gives me a slightly better understanding of the ones we lost to drugs and alcohol. The world was robbed of guys like Scott Hall and Eddie well before their times and it saddens me knowing they loved the business more than life and still had so much they wanted to give. They could've developed some serious talent after hanging up the boots.
