Top of the line construction. That key is good for the next 500years.

@@k9kj de M0SNR Hi KJ, Val seems a really nice guy to work with. I'm learning at the moment and have been for about a month. My view is that if you are going to do a job then you need good tools to do it with which is why I decided to go for it up-front. I'm another that Thomas, K4SWL has inspired to learn :) I've started with paddles, so intend to continue. I've gone about learning in a slightly different way which may work for me - if not I''ll revert back to the G4FON method which I've struggled with before. I was licensed in 2004 having sat the exam in 1983 and got licensed after hearing about the bravery that amateurs displayed during the 9/11 emergency response. I've had a lot of false starts with Morse since although didn't REALLY put the time into it. I was also fortunate to know an amazing CW OP SP3CW who piqued my interest. I really enjoy watching your channel and your review of the key. I like the idea of magnetic tensioning rather than springs and looks really nicely made. Thanks for the tips and the time you put into making your video's. 73

"Key" versus "Paddles". Given that we have two primary options for sending Morse code, the up-and-down thingy and the sideways thingy, and we have two words at our disposal, "Key" and "Paddles", I got this amazing idea. Why don't we assign one word to each option? The word "Key" could be restricted to the traditional meaning, the up-and-down thingy, and this would leave the word "Paddles" to be used for the other sideways thingy. Yes, yes, yes... there are some complications and details. My focus here is the get the word "Key" back onto the original meaning, i.e. the up-and-down thingy that was always called a "Key". Referring to Paddles as a "Key" would seem to a purely negative thing.

This is definitely a huge terminology problem. I also hear people refer to iambic battles as he hears, which is actually not correct either. I appreciate you watching! And contributing
