The power supply capacitors sound bad in the first rig. This allows the AC power line (mains) input frequency (50 or 60hz) to be superimposed on the much higher oscillator frequency, resulting in the distinctive growling note that we are hearing in this video. Other power supply issues could cause this behavior, but it is usually bad capacitors. 73

It's a swedish military practice key called TC15223. I bought mine at a hamfest here in sweden.
